The Sounds/Sky Sox game will be televised on DirecTV channel 644. It is one of the FSN Alt channels from Colorado so you will need to Fox Sports Pack to see it. Lucky for me, I have it.

Now that I just said it, I see the SkySox website says tonights game has been postponed.......... too bad.

Any word why Braun is out? Is he just getting a rest, or is it another reason?

i listened to the game when the WV broadcaster was going through the lineups and he made no insight as to why he wasn't playing. just for the positive vibe (and until we hear otherwise) i'm just going to assume he was getting a day off to give murray some PT.

edit: Septimo and Bell lead off the bottom of the 1st for the Helena Baby Brews with Back to Back Bombs. hooray for Helena.

Final: West Virginia 4, Asheville (Rockies) 3

West Virginia Site Game Summary:

RICHARDSON EXTENDS STREAK IN POWER VICTORY

Charleston, WV ? Grant Richardson had reached safely in 22 straight games going into Thursday night?s game against the Asheville Tourists at Appalachian Power Park. Richardson reached in the first inning on an RBI single to extend the streak to 23 games and the Power won their fifth game of the home stand by the final score of 4-3.

The Power drew first blood on the RBI base hit from Richardson in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. Asheville tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning when Rob Hosgood scored on an errant throw from Josh Murray, and the Tourists took the lead later in the inning on a two-run homer from Jose Valdez. In the bottom of the sixth inning Murray knocked in a run with a double and Charlie Fermaint hit the eventual game winner, knocking in Carlos Corporan and Murray on a two-out single.

Justin Barnes (8-1) earned the victory, Robert Hinton (10) earned the save and Jarrett Grube (5-5) obtained the loss. The Power are 21-18 in the second half after the win and the Tourists move to 17-23 with the loss.

The Power will conclude the four game series against Asheville at Appalachian Power Park on Friday night. The Power will throw RHP Kevin Roberts (0-0, 4.50) and the Tourists will counter with LHP Franklin Morales (4-3, 3.55). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM (6:05 Central).

West Virginia Box Score:

Announcer "Bull" Barch raved about unsung RHP Justin Barnes, and rightly so; Josh Murray's 23rd error hurt at the time, but he came up big in two later at-bats; Hernan Iribarren now 34-of-46 in SB attempts...

West Virginia Game Log:

Although the Power led 1-0 after four innings, 11 of their 12 outs through those four innings came via strikeout -- an awesome display by the Rockies' young starter...

Final: Brevard County 7, Sarasota (Reds) 3

Brevard County Box Score:

Winner Forrest Martin actually was the back-end of the piggy back, as southpaw Steve Hammond had a nice start in his second appearance as a Manatee -- neither pitcher allowed an earned run; the always solid Drew Anderson on base four times; eight errors in the sloppy game, three by Brevard...

Brevard County Game Log (5th inning):

Brevard County Manatees catcher C.J. Medlin left the game due to an injured arm.

Ugh -- looks like there could be a catcher shuffle needed -- normally West Virginia's Nestor Corredor is the choice to jump up and fill in, as he's done at both AA (2004) and AAA (although he didn't see action with Nashville during his stay earlier this year).

Final: Huntsville 4, West Tenn (Cubs) 3

Any series win over any type of Cubbies team is sweet...

Huntsville Site Game Summary:

Stars Survive Another Scare in Ninth to Down Jaxx

Huntsville survived another scare in the ninth inning and hung on to defeat West Tenn 4-3 Thursday night in the final game of a three-game set at Pringles Park. The Stars took two out of three in the series during which all the games were decided by a run to improve to 19-20 in the second half, while the Diamond Jaxx dropped to 23-16 in the second half but remained one game behind Carolina in the North Division after Chattanooga scored in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Mudcats. The Stars split 10 games with the Jaxx in Tennessee but lost 10 out 16 in the season series.

Dwaine Bacon delivered a two-out triple in the eighth inning as a pinch-hitter, prompting Stars manager Don Money to remove starter Dennis Sarfate and call on southpaw Andy Pratt to face left-handed hitting Adam Greenberg, who had compiled a .286 average against left-handed pitching. Greenberg drove a 1-1 pitch off the bottom of the wall in center field to chase home Bacon to cut the Stars lead to 4-3. Money then removed Pratt from the game and called on right-handed throwing Gerrit Simpson to face righty-swinging Ryan Theriot, who knocked in the winning run in West Tenn?s victory on Wednesday afternoon. Theriot grounded the first pitch from Simpson, making his first appearance with the Stars, into left field for a base hit but Brad Nelson made a perfect one-hop throw to the plate to cut down a sliding Greenberg for the final out of the inning to keep the visitors in the lead.

Simpson fanned Casey McGehee on three pitches to open the ninth inning before Brandon Sing doubled and Buck Coats walked, forcing Money to call on Alec Zumwalt, who saved Tuesday?s win by fanning Nomar Garciaparra for the final out with two runners on base. Zumwalt struck out Luis Montanez and walked Aaron Sisk to load the bases before getting Jose Reyes to ground out to end the game and earn his third save of the season.

Jae-Kuk Ryu retired the first nine hitters he faced before getting roughed up for four runs on five hits in the fourth inning. Tony Gwynn, Jr. ignited the rally with a leadoff bunt base hit, moved to third base on a hit-and-run single by Brandon Gemoll and scored on a double by Nelson that moved Gemoll to third base. Enrique Cruz delivered a two-out double to score both runners and then came around on a base hit by Ben Van Iderstine. The only other hit the Stars managed against Ryu was a two-out double by Gemoll in the eighth. The right-hander dropped to 8-7 on the year with three of his losses handed to him by the Stars, who totaled 14 runs on 28 hits against him in 27 2/3 innings over four starts.

Stars starter Dennis Sarfate blanked the home side until Reyes lofted a two-run, opposite field home run just over the wall, just inside the foul pole in left field in the fifth inning to cut the visitors lead to 4-2. Sarfate lasted 7 2/3 innings, his longest outing of the year, and allowed three runs on six hits and a walk to pick up his ninth win of the season. The right-hander struck out five and evened his season mark against the Diamond Jaxx at 1-1.

The Stars return home Friday night to open up a three-game set against Mississippi with right-hander Glenn Woolard taking the mound. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:50 p.m. central time on ESPN 1450 AM and through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com.

Huntsville Box Score:

Well, pretty safe to say that Dennis Sarfate will finally escape AA after this year -- great outing here...

I still really enjoy watching the Helena box scores every night... This team lost the meat of its order to promotions, and the offense is still rolling... Were our past two drafts really this good??? Simply exciting to see... Where do we put all these kids next year???

That's funny Huntsville fan, I have been thinking the same thing for quite some time now, although I would like to see what he could do in a couple of starts between now and the end of the year for the big club. I am not saying he takes the ball every five days for the Crew, but maybe he could steal a couple of Okha starts between now and the first of October. He seems to have big league stuff and does anyone really believe Ohka is going to be a Brewer next year?
