22-year-old catcher Garry Savas, out of Oklahoma City University (the 2005 NAIA National Champions) is now a member of the West Virginia Power.

Here's his OKCU Player Profile Page:

We'll work on determining the status of recently-signed catcher Richie Cormier, no longer listed on the Power roster. Cormier played for Embry-Riddle University, the team Savas' club defeated in the championship game.

Savas' 2005 stats can be found here:

Congrats to both Sarfate and Brantley. Well-deserved promotions. Sarfate's should have come much sooner as I think most to all agree, but better late than never I guess.

Now we can all admire Brantley's crazy walk numbers in a more timely fashion at Helena, for a week or two.

Lorenzo Cain has been bumped up to Helena, making his debut last night now that the Arizona Rookie League's season has finished. From today's Daily Dish at Baseball America:

Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain was named the Rookie-level Arizona League MVP, even though the Brewers? entry was just 11-17 in both halves of play. Cain ranked second in the league in batting, tied for fifth in home runs and third in RBIs during a .356-5-37 season. He went 1-for-4 in his debut yesterday in the Pioneer League with Helena. The 2004 17th-round pick signed this year as a draft-and-follow.

West Virginia Press Release:

The West Virginia Power, class A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers have made another change to their roster.

Outfielder Nate Yoho was added to the roster and he will take the place of right-handed pitcher Derek DeCarlo who was placed on the disabled list.

DeCarlo was placed on the disabled list due to a sore hip and will miss the remainder of the season. DeCarlo went 6-4 with a 4.94 ERA with the Power over 32 appearances, including five starts.

Yoho comes to the Power from the Arizona Brewers where he hit .298 with five triples and 29 RBI over 40 games. Yoho signed with the Brewers as a non-drafted free agent. He played his college ball at the University of Iowa.

Just-turned 23-year-old catcher Jimmy Stanfield made his AA debut last night with Huntsville.

Here are his numbers with the Arizona Rookie squad this summer:

Very nice touch by Reid Nichols rewarding some of the Arizona troopers with a weekend of non-rookie ball prior to fall instructionals back in Maryvale.

Helena RHP Luis Bernal, Milwaukee's 33rd round pick in 2004 out of Pima Community College (Arizona), has been placed on the restricted list.

It seems Bernal, who turned to a knuckleball earlier this season, is calling it a career, but the Brewers are retaining his rights for now by placing him on the restricted list.

Despite a few decent outings early on, recent struggles left Bernal with a 10.91 ERA in 15.2 IP this season.

We failed to notice earlier this summer that the Brewers surprisingly released their 2004 13th round pick, first baseman Angel Ayala, according to Baseball America. The left-handed hitting Ayala, out of Puerto Rico, only turned 19 years old this past July, so there's likely more to this story that we'll never know.

Colbyjack's initial draft report described Ayala as such:

Exciting power prospect with a very large, barrel-chested frame. Has a long, uppercut swing that can lead to a lot of strikeouts, but when he makes contact he can hit the ball a long, long way. He has some athleticism and an average arm, so he isn't necessarily stuck at first base.

Angel Ayala's 2004 numbers from Maryvale (106 AB's):
