Evelend is really making me worried. He is getting roughed up pretty bad. His attitude stinks and I am disappointed.

Explain yourself. His stats thus far indicate otherwise....do not make the attitude comment without backing it up either.

Edit: Well, BCU got his info before I did, as Eveland does get lit......

His attitude stinks because you don't get a good vibe with him? Having a gut feeling isn't the type of thing you make factual statements off of.

You can talk about how you were disappointed with his performance as the season wore on, but making pre-conceived judgements about a player you don't know anything about doesn't sit well with me.

Javelinas top Saguaros late

Hart doubles home winning run in ninth for Javelinas

By Eric Justic / MLB.com

Corey Hart delivered a walk-off RBI double to send the Javelinas to an 8-7 victory over the visiting Saguaros on Friday.

With the score tied, 7-7, in the ninth inning, Padres prospect Michael Johnson worked a leadoff walk against Saguaros reliever Roy Corcoran (0-2) of the Nationals. Gary Harris (Mariners) ran for Johnson and advanced to second on a groundout by Orioles farmhand Nick Markakis. Two batters later, Hart (Brewers) lifted a double to left field.

Ryan Zimmerman (Nationals) went 5-for-5 in the loss and scored a pair of runs over the first three innings. He singled and came home on a two-run double by Brendan Harris (Nationals) in a four-run second.

In the third, the Saguaros made it 6-2 when Zimmerman singled in Brad Eldred (Pirates) and scored two batters later on an error by third baseman Ian Stewart (Rockies). Eldred led off the inning with his first triple of the season.

The Javelinas cut the deficit to 6-5 with three runs in the bottom of the third, highlighted by Orioles prospect Val Majewski's two-run single.

Stewart atoned for his error later in the game. He scored on an RBI single by Alcides Escobar (Brewers) in the sixth and added an RBI groundout to put the Javelinas ahead, 7-6, in the seventh.

The Saguaros tied the score in the eighth on an RBI single by Larry Broadway (Nationals).

Brian Wolfe (1-0) of the Brewers picked up the win with a perfect ninth.

The Javelinas travel to Grand Canyon and play at 3:05 p.m. CT on Saturday.

Vinny Rottino 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI on Saturday, the only Brewer to see action in the Javelina's 9-4 win (five runs in the 9th, Rottino capped the scoring with an RBI single). Rottino played first base for the second consecutive game and hit 6th.

Also, looks like Milwaukee won their appeal, as LHP Steve Hammond's name appears on the official Javelinas roster for the first time.

Day off Sunday...

The idea an out-of-shape kid like Eveland doesn't think he needs any work

Al, this is obnoxious. I just don't get this comment, nor the one about Hardy and Eveland up the thread. You're putting words into his mouth, or rather his head: 'doesn't think he needs any work' doesn't necessarily follow from what's been reported.

Let's all think back to Nick Neugebauer, and the fact that he apparently neglected to mention arm issues to someone who could change his workload...from what I remember it was a matter of not being frank with the organization, partly macho, partly "I don't want to sink my chances of making the bigs." What message do you send to Eveland by sending him to the AFL despite his apparent concerns about his workload? Al says, hey, suck it up, kid, and pitch when we tell you to pitch. Got problems? Tell your momma but we don't want to hear about it...a complaint makes you a whiner who doesn't want to improve. That's just a stupid way to handle one of the few impact arms on the horizon, and a stupid message to send to Eveland as well as the rest of the young pitchers. I was pleased to see them publicly state they wanted to limit Eveland's innings this year, but this subsequent development seems bizarre.

I'm with Mass..they didn't think the AFL through...or they did but then didn't respond to changes resulting from developments in the majors. Hardy made sense until he started hitting...Eveland might have made sense had his season gone differently. Yeah, they didn't have the clearcut choices they have in the past...our system has something of a gap right now between last seasons' WV and Nashville teams. But off the top of my head, in addition to Stetter, it seems like Adams or Bennett might have benefited from some work, as both missed time in AAA as I recall, and both are presumably candidates for major league jobs this coming spring.

A close friend of mine knows Eveland personally and has said that he's just an awesome guy. Of course, that has no bearing on his commitment to baseball, but she says that in his personal life he's really nice and energetic.

The guy is bored. He rotted on the bench in the second half with an inferior player in front of him. He dominated AAA before he was called up.

He shouldn't be in the AFL. Trade Lyle and tell him he's our 1B of the present.

He knows how to hit.

Wow, it's not like we have Angel Echevarria playing in front of Prince. Lyle is a fine first baseman, and he would have had no trade value if benched. Plus, there is absolutely no way Prince puts up better numbers than Lyle if he played full time last season. I doubt he puts up better numbers if he gets the job this season. Most rookies don't come in hitting gangbusters, no matter how much upside they have. The right guy was playing there in 2005. Prince will get his shot sooner or later.

yeah, he sure dominated for about 3 weeks. Wow. Of course, going on that, Krynzel sure dominated in his first 3 weeks.

Please, Fielder had a tremendous hot stretch which turned his season from so-so to very good. Hart did the same. However, it's hard to say Fielder's 3-4 week hot stretch is any indication that he a) dominated AAA or b) is 100% ready for the big leagues. It's also a stretch to say that Overbay is inferior. Sure Lyle was very pedestrian this season, especially in the 2nd half, but he's still solid. In 5 years it's likely Overbay will be far lower ranked at 1b/dh than Fielder, but I can't say Prince is better right now

word from a non-Javelinas trainer (ie, from a different team) is that they thought Fielder didn't care. Apparently he played a game in tennis shoes. I wonder if he meant turf shoes, which could have been explained had he left them behind in his locker. But apparently he'd been talked about for his shoes on the team
