How fast is Ford? How would he compare to a Mel Stocker or Joey Gathright, the two fastest runners I can recall. Both have been seen standing up after a slide when the ball arrives on a SB attempt.

I think an OF or two may have a different team soon, as the Crew has a ton of them.

It honestly would not be a stretch to say darren is the fastest player to ever put on a uniform. He's faster than stocker and he's faster than gathright. He runs a legit 6.1 and his speed does translate to the diamond. Darren just needs to refine the other parts of his game and he will be fine.

After watching Ford steal bases in Charleston for parts of the last two years, I agree with Agent 39...he is THE fastest I have seen, and man does he put the pressure on the pitcher, catcher, and middle infield. Early in the season here, between him and Brent Brewer, I saw so many errors and out of position plays in the middle of the infield it was almost comical! Darren is the real deal, I think he hits well and is a superb defender...just needs as they say, the proverbial seasoning!

Really exciting to see that level of speed in the system. My avatar indicates what I think of Brewer, and I think his development has been shrouded a bit by other players in the system, and his rough defense at short. Ford and Brewer may be 2 of the top 5 athletes in all of minor league baseball right now. I would love to see a very savvy bunting instructor down in Arizona to work with both of these guys.

Newton has to be a corner guy, he's so big. Taylor is a plus defender at third and Id imagine they're going to keep them there for the long term. Not that you asked but I know Brewer is staying at SS come hell or high water. Its not like they have an OF openings to move him to even if they wanted to (which they dont)

Yeah...but can he hit like Gamel! (See avatar) In all honesty, it will be interesting to see what the Brewers do with Gamel and Taylor at 3B. Of course, I suppose a lot of that depends on how Braun plays in MLB.

Tyson is a very exciting player in my opinion. Lots of strikeouts. Lots of groundballs. I would think he might have a chance to get fast tracked as a relief pitcher.

Between Brantly, Cain & Ford - some of those OF are going to end up in other organizations. (Remember that Braun might move to the OF & Gamel might need to as well someday) We also have Gillespie and Gindl. That is a lot of quality OF prospects.
