Brevard County Site Game Summary:

 

Manatees sink Blue Jays

 

Reliever Dave Johnson threw a season-high 4 1/3 perfect innings as visiting Brevard County defeated Dunedin, 3-1, on Saturday.

 

Johnson (6-6) retired all 13 batters he faced, striking out two, for his first win since May 27.

 

Josh Alliston picked up his seventh save, despite allowing a run in the ninth. Manatees starter Luis Pena gave up three hits, walked four and struck out one over 3 2/3 innings. He was helped by center fielder Charlie Fermaint, who nailed Robinzon Diaz as he tried to score on Cory Patton's third-inning double.

 

Kyle Phillips went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and Brendan Katin had two hits and scored a run for Brevard County (14-20).

 

Carlos Cota singled home Eric Nielsen in the ninth for the Blue Jays (19-17). Jacob Butler followed with a base hit, but Alliston got Christian Snavely to ground into a forceout and Juan Peralta flied out.

 

Dunedin starter Eric Fowler (7-10) took the loss, allowing one run on five hits while striking out three and walking one in 6 2/3 innings. - Josh Cooper/MLB.com
