A mighty fine pitching lineup from top to bottom in the minors tonight. Here's some pre-game love for Zach Braddock with the hope that he looks more like he did during his first start for the H-Crew than he has his last few. With no big-league Brewers playing tonight, you can get your Brewers baseball fix from about 6 pm this evening to right around midnight.

As usual, Will Inman seems to only get angry when he gets lit up...and other teams don't like him when he's angry.

Also, wouldn't it be interesting if Mike Jones were to get his ERA to 3.10 or lower to finish the year.

hitless, two strikeout inning for the rehabbing capellan in AA... now who is being sent down when he goes back up? a reliever, or are we going to go 13 pitchers again, with gwynn most likely headed back to Nashville?

Will Inman - 8IP, 2H, 1BB, 9K's

'nuff said.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

I think maybe you move him up, though I know that's not likely.

I like it when the Brewers are conservative moving up pitchers, especially since Inman missed several weeks earlier this year (not to mention their luck in recent years when they have tried to push prep pitchers a little). However, getting to 8 IP is no easy task for a pitcher at A ball on a strict pitch count. I think Inman has forced the issue now.

Darren Ford not in the WV lineup and Gillespie out of the Helena lineup. Coincidence? Probably, as Cain (and even Brantley) is more deserving of a promotion than Ford, but I'd like to see Gillespie bumped up (possibly as far as BC since the WV OF is already pretty full).

Final: West Virginia 4, Rome (Braves) 0

West Virginia Site Game Summary:

INMAN IMPRESSES IN TWO HIT SHUTOUT

Will Inman tossed eight scoreless innings of two hit ball and struck out nine against the Rome Braves on Monday night at Appalachian Power Park, giving him a victory in each of his last five starts as the Power beat the Braves 4-0.

Tony Festa ripped a two out RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to put the Power on top. Kenny Holmberg ripped a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 2-0 Power. The homer was his third of the home stand and his seventh of the season. Mike Bell chipped in with a solo homerun in the sixth inning, it was his second of the home stand and his tenth of the year. The Power added one final run in the eighth inning as Mat Gamel scored on Jaime Trejo?s error at third base.

Dane Renkert pitched a perfect ninth inning to complete the two hit shutout of the Braves. The shutout was the sixth of the year for West Virginia. Inman?s eight inning performance marks the longest outing of the season for any Power pitcher. West Virginia has now won sixty games on the year, matching their win total in the 2005 season.

Will Inman (9-1) got the win, and Adam Stanley (1-6) obtained the loss. The Power are 60-52 overall and 21-22 in the second half after the win while the Braves fell to 61-52 overall and 19-24 in the second half after the loss.

The Power will continue the four game series against the Rome Braves at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday night. Right hander Jairo Cuevas (6-8, 5.0http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/glasses.gif will make the start for Rome and the Power will counter with right hander Shawn Ferguson (1-1, 6.46). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.

West Virginia Box Score and Game Log Link:

Mike Bell and Kenny Holmberg both have quite a bit of power for middle infielders. Ignore the .238 batting average---Kenny holmberg has great plate discipline with a 30/37 bb/kk rate in 165 ab's. You have to wonder where Holmberg will end up playing though, he's definitely behing Hernan, and at 23, the Brewers probably need to find a way to challenge him at a higher level...Inman, of course, dominant..

Final: Huntsville 3, Mobile (Padres) 2

Huntsville Site Game Summary:

Link, text follows --

www.huntsvillestars.com/n...newsId=954

Stars Bounce Back and Beat BayBears

Brad Nelson?s two-run single highlighted a three-run fourth inning rally and Tim Dillard was superb in a long relief stint, as Huntsville hung on to down Mobile 3-2 Monday night in the fourth game of a five-game set at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Stars stopped a two-game slide, improved to 21-22 in the second half and leapt over West Tenn into third place in the North Division, three and a half games behind first-place Tennessee, which fell at home to Birmingham 5-3. Mobile dropped to 22-22 in the second half and to 6-8 against the Stars.

Milwaukee relief pitcher Jose Capellan, nursing a strained shoulder, made a rehab start for the Stars and retired the BayBears in order in the first inning, striking out two and recording a ground ball out on 14 pitches. He was replaced by Dillard, making his fourth relief appearance of the season, to start the second inning. The right-hander set down the first hitter he faced before Luis Cruz belted a home run to give Mobile a 1-0 lead. The BayBears have hit a long ball in all four games of the series and have totaled six in four games.

Jose Oyervidez blanked the Stars on one hit through three innings before walking Callix Crabbe and Drew Anderson and giving up a single to Ryan Braun to load the bases with one out in the fourth. Nelson, who had knocked in only four runs over 55 at-bats, singled to right field on a 1-1 offering to knock in Crabbe and Anderson to give the visitors a 2-1 lead. Ron Acuna singled to reload the bases, and push his hitting streak to a season-high eight games, before Lou Palmisano bounced into a force out at second base to score Braun to extend the lead to 3-1.

Vincent Sinisi led off the fourth inning with a home run, his second of the series, to slice the Stars advantage to 3-2. The Mobile first baseman had been hitless in 11 at-bats since going deep in his first trip to the plate in the series on Friday night, while Dillard has allowed five long balls in his last three outings. The Huntsville right-hander gave up a base hit to Stephen Smitherman after the home run and then retired 14 in a row before a two-out single by Dustin Delucchi in the eighth.

Sinisi struck out on three pitches to open the ninth and Smitherman followed with a line drive double to right-center field and was replaced by Brett Dowdy as a pinch-runner. Cruz lined out to right field and Dillard was taken out and replaced by Travis Phelps, who had thrown three scoreless innings to grab the win in relief Friday night. Pinch-hitter Colt Morton took a pitch at 2-2 that could have been called a strike but wasn?t, fouled off the next pitch and then went down swinging for the final out of the game. Dillard picked up his eighth win of the year and Phelps earned his second save.

Jose Oyervidez fell to 4-10 after allowing three runs on five hits and five walks over six frames. He fanned seven and worked around a one-out triple by Acuna in the sixth. Geoff Jones took over in the seventh and got out of trouble after the first two hitters reached and wound up leaving the bases loaded. Paul Abraham stranded Ozzie Chavez at third with one out in the eighth, as Huntsville left 11 men on board from the fourth through eighth innings.

The series concludes Tuesday night with left-hander Manny Parra making the start for the Stars against Mobile right-hander Dirk Hayhurst. Coverage of the game begins at 6:50 p.m. central time and can be heard locally on ESPN Radio 1450 AM and through the internet at www.huntsvillestars.com.

In Progress: Nashville 3, Sacramento (A's) 0

Laynce Nix has raised his average to .292. Absolutely unbelievable. Brewers fans can complain about the loss of Nelson Cruz, but Nashville fans probably haven't noticed a difference between Nelson and Laynce. Dana basically unhittable today. i really hop he succeeds in his next chance with the Brewers. Dana is still very young.

Wow Luis Ramirez is making me start to forget about my old man-crush Ramirez (Carlos)!!! Hope he keeps this up!

Right now he has gone 7IP gave up 4H 1BB and 1 ER with 5K's.

on the season he has 29/6 K/BB ratio 2.48 ERA and is one of the FEW consistant pitchers in Arizona. Plus hes only 18.

Janish powers Reds

Paul Janish's two-run homer in the seventh inning lifted Sarasota past visiting Brevard County, 5-3, on Monday.

Marland Williams drew a one-out walk before Janish connected off reliever Bo Hall (5-4) for his seventh homer, snapping a 3-3 tie.

Chris Kroski and Trevor Lawhorn each drove in a run and Jay Garthwaite scored twice for the Reds (23-21), who managed six hits.

Reds reliever Blake Hendley (2-0) fanned two over two scoreless frames to pick up the win. Jeff Bruksch gave up a hit and struck out three over two shutout innings to pick up his first save.

Good pitching throughout the minors for the Crew tonight. Braddock blew up, and Jones was a little shakky. Here are the lines of the pitchers tonight.

Eveland 6.0IP 2H 0R 0ER 3W 7K 1.92ERA 96pitches. So far, Nashville started at 905 so he is still pitching. With the high pitch count he might only have a inning left.

Dillard 7.2IP 6H 2R 2ER 0W 3K 3.38ERA. Capellan got the rehab start, it was a 1 inning stint with 2K and no hits. Dillard pitched great to get the win, 3-2 over Mobile.

Jones 4.0IP 3H 2R 2ER 1W 2K 3.22ERA. Jones got knocked around a little, but got the ND, as Brevard lost to Sarasota 5-3.

Braddock didn't do good at all, giving up 3ER in 3.2IP.

Inman did good, I don't need to tell you that.

and Ramirez pitched and gave up 1ER over 7IP for the rookie brewers

In Progress: Arizona Brewers 3, Arizona Mariners 1, through 7..

Great pitching by Luis Ramirez and strong hitting performances from Andrew Lefave and Brent Brewer, who has been coming on strong lately. It is of course, way to early to write off a second round pick like Brewer. We all know he is raw, but he projects to have power, and he has decent plate discipline already with 11 walks in 125 ab's...not to mention 8 sb's against 0 CS...exciting stuff

edit:

well, now the AZ line shows Peralta taking them to the 9th instead of Ramirez...still good to see

Final: Missoula (Diamondbacks) 7, Helena 6, ten innings

Usually reliable Steve Palazzolo touched for home runs in the bottom of the 9th (blown save) and 10th (loss); the Osprey challenged for more in the 9th, but Palazzolo pitched out of trouble, only to surrender the leadoff blast in the 10th.

Again, full game stories and such at mid-day...
