What do you think of Brian Anderson? (Merged: Anderson & and reaction to the broadcaster)

djoctagone
I was just thinking today how lucky BA is to be joining the Brewers this year. I don't much care for his style. I think if he had joined the team during any of the most recent years that Darron suffered through, we would have all been calling for this head like so many on this forum do for Anne Carol. Daron at least kept it a little interesting even as we were clearly going nowhere as a team. Calling the 2007 Brewers could be nothing but fun. BA doesn't really add anything to not, nor do I think he really appreciates this.

Heck who wouldn't prefer a Coshun/Nelson booth to an Anderson/Schroeder one?

Me. I just don't see a Coshun as a booth guy. Didn't much care for the Badger hoops games he called this year on ESPN +.

I tend to watch Brewers games more often than not. Because of this, I've heard a lot of Brian and Bill this year. I've loosely started keeping track in my mind the number of suggestive double entendres Brian uses.

This could all be due to my excessive uncensored daily XM listening habits because I'm certain Brian isn't doing it on purpose. Still though, it makes the broadcast more entertaining for me in its odd little way.

EDIT: I should also add that I don't really notice it with other broadcasters. I listen to Vasgersian, Sutton, Scully along with the Red Sox and Seattle announcers quite a bit, and for whatever reason I don't notice it with them.

Oh, and Coshun is one tan individual. Right now, he might beat Uecker's orange days.

That, my friends, would be the last time I listened to a Brewer TV broadcast. Just thinking about it makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

"---Ann Carrol and Davey Nelson annoy the heck out of me, though."---

Well, Ann Carrol bugs me a lot, but I actually like Davey. He's obviously not the best sports talk show kinda guy but you can tell he cares about the team and such. I like him and Craig together.

I think I'll start listening for those instead of the 'ands'. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Several of us frequenters of the chat room are with ya, there. Getting "fisted" on an inside pitch? Yikes!

I probably would have enjoyed the tv producer just pulling the string on a Mattel See 'N Say and holding it up to the microphone than listening to Sutton do any more play-by-play. That said, I think Anderson has done a good job in his first year. Time will tell if he picks up any habits that annoy the heck out of me.

I miss Sutton. like him or not, at least he had personality. Anderson sounds like he's still calling golf games.. I feel that Darron was with us though all the losing and be just as excited as us calling the games.

Oh and if you think Bill S is bad, you should hear Suttons new color guy. He sounds old and very very tired.

and FYI: The Mariners color guy, Mike Blowers has to be the worse color guy I've ever heard.. Even worse then Del Crandel was. Half of his comments are less then four words.

Last week, I think Gracie spent the better part of an hour whining about the length of the game (against the D Rays) and complaining about "AL baseball" even though the game was being played in Phoenix. He then proceeded to complain about having to get up for a noon start the following day. Poor fella.

Humor is great throughout the course of the game, but Mark, seriously... You have enough money. You don't have to work if you don't want to. Just invest it wisely.

And yes, Blowers is horrible. He kind of sounds like a kid who was just yelled at by his parents. Dave Niehaus is bad too, in my opinion. His only redeeming quality is the fact that he sounds like an old crotchety old man. I keep waiting for him to get mad and yell about something. I usually watch Mariners games with the sound turned very low and something else playing in the background.

Oh man, I forgot how bad Mark Grace was.. I had to sit though his talking for a few Brewer's game last year.. Dave Niehaus seemed a little weird to me as well when I first moved to Seattle. But he's their Uecker..Been with them since the 70's. Got to respect that.

Yeah. I might have been harsh on Dave up there... He's one of those guys that shouldn't be removed until he's ready to hang 'em up. That said, as an outsider, I can't say I'm a fan of his style... That's just me, though. (It's because I want him to yell at somebody.)

I wish I liked the Angels announcers more. Unfortunately I don't.

Yikes. I threadjacked, too. Getting back to BA. I like him, but I'm not to the point where I would fight to get him back on the air if he was removed. Rock is rock... Sometimes there's a gem in that gravel pile.

the only thing that bugs me about Craig Coshon is that he says this almost everytime somebody finishes talking or a video finishes up or whatever:

"All right, very good."

Anderson is getting better. You can tell he's getting a bit more comfortable calling HRs and other stuff. I'm really waiting to hear what he'll do for a walk-off win, especially one like Texas got against us with a BIG rally in the bottom of the ninth.

I think the Mariners have the worst baseball announcers of all. Well, maybe the Braves are worse.

Last night Bill and Brian said only 3 players in the 3,000 hit club got all their hits with one team. Biggio would be the 4th. Then they showed highlights of Yount, Brett, and Gwynn getting their 3,000th hit. You know, I could swear Cal Ripken played his entire career with the Orioles, but maybe I missed a season or two when he was with Tampa Bay.

Also, Stan the Man Musial played his entire career with the Cards. Yaz with the Red Sox. Ty Cobb, Willie Mays, and Hank Aaron reached 3,000 hits with their first major league team, though all played with another team late in their careers....

I thought it was eight players. Cal Ripken played his entire career with Baltimore. Wade Boggs played for the Rays.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I think they at one point had a list of all 8 players, but only showed video of four actually getting their 3000th.

I only remember this because I was half paying attention, and I thought more than four guys managed to hit the milestone with one team, too. Then they showed the list, and I realized they just didn't show video for everyone.
