The new Brewers

I've been watching this team for a long time. I've sat and watched decent starts fittered away as a season progresses. I've watched as great players were traded away as they came into their own.

But now, I see something new. I see something that gets me excited. Yes, they're having a good season. But beyond the current team, I see a plethora of prospects. I see an owner who wants to win. I see a fanbase willing to come to the park. I see a resurgance of Brewers baseball.

As someone who can't afford a big ticket package, I'm getting squezzed out by the casual fan. At first, this upset me but I embrace it now. I'm not sure where I'm going with this but the fact that I've seen multiple discussions on this board about how to manage the bullpen and lineup gets me giddy.

This is the first time in a while that I can remember that this team has OPTIONS. I may watch many games on FSN rather than in the park where I'd rather be but I love the fact that the tide seems to be turning. This is much longer than I had intended. That is all.

So, can we have an official Brewerfan banning of the phrase "same old Brewers". After the 24-12 start and during the 10-20 fall the phrase came out. Getting back to 14 over .500 doesn't seem to relate to the "same old Brewers".

I never got the reference anyway. What does the 1993 or 1999 team have to do with the 2006 or 2007 team. New owner, new GM, new manager, new players(except for Jenks in '99).

The only way that anything can be explained by "same old Brewers" is if the whole thing has been Bill Castro's fault.

What's the Cubs' excuse, then? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

The only way I can explain my feelings toward the team is to compare it to the '93 Badger Football team. They are playing some very good ball, and I'm saying, "It's about time!"

The one difference is that I had playoff tickets IN HAND for the '92 (edit) Brewers. Of course, I had to give them back to get my money back http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif .

Go Brewers!
