Picture under the Username...

How can I get pics under my user name after every post? I am guessing it is somewhere, where I edit my profile but I can't seem to find it. Any one tho knows, I'd appreciate the help.

 

EDIT: Also how can I put the information, under the comments?

Al, what's your graphic? It appeared recently but only displays as about an inch square box on my screen.

I've tried to get my picture to show below my name for a while but all I ever get is the little square next to my name. Unfortunately, it's too small to see. Ah well...

User: How to use Personal Photo as a User

 

1. Log in to your Control Center and click the Edit Profile link.

 

2. Under My Photo, type in or paste the URL to the photo that you wish to use (jpg or gif format no larger than 60x60 pixels is recommended). In order to use the photo you must have it on a web server or stored somewhere on the web so you can link to it. Do NOT attempt to add size attributes to the URL - this will cause your personal photo link to break. Click on the Save Changes button.

My pic is my son's 2 year b-day photo. It just don't work, as I did exactly what Bill said.

Al, the myfamily site won't let you link to the image. The image that is actually being displayed is just "you can't link to this... boo!" If you have the ability to post the image somewhere else, then it should work.

 

And if you're wondering, the reason the site prevents you from embedding linked images into another site's page(s) is because of bandwidth concerns. It's kind of lame, but I'm sure it saves them some cash. I actually got rid of my avatar to try and save some bandwidth on my site.

Bill, or someone else, we put my son's picture on our Geocities page, and linked to it. Still nothing but an X in a box. I'm not sure it's even worth the time anymore, but, why?

Hmm... not sure. Try right-clicking on the image and choosing to open it (either in a new window or whatever). Then hit "back" and see if it shows up.

Nope. Any advice, let me know. Anyone else posted a personal pic? Most seem to be lifted from the real media.

It won't let me open it anywhere. None of the "View" options are shaded in.

 

If I remember right about Geocities, they don't allow outside access to their hosted images, so Al, you might want to try to open a Yahoo Briefcase account. I'm pretty sure you can access those images from anywhere. If you have a Yahoo account, go to yahoo.com and click on "Briefcase" - it's on the top part of the page under the subheading Organize.

That could be right, Toby... I'm using Firefox on OS X, which sometimes allows me to do things that otherwise don't work. Most of the "no right clicking" scripts don't work, for example.

 

Definitely go with a Yahoo! Briefcase, Al.

It is odd that Geocities is owned by Yahoo, yet they have different sharing rules. I remember when GeoCities was Geocities and I had a Packer fan site. Good ol' '95.

 

It is also odd that Bill's Mac allows him to do things that I can't. Get on it, Gates!

I can see Al's picture, using WInXP and IE 6.x.

 

Additionally, I'm hosting my image on our Charter website.

 

So, I haven't a clue why some can see it and others can't.
