NL Pitching Stats for June

A lot of really nice performances in the National League in June form a pitching perspective. I think Sheets has a good shot based on his 5 - 0 record (wins tend to be a sexier stat than others). I think it will come down to Penny or Sheets - even though Zambrano had comparable stats, I think the win/loss record will override any of the other numbers.

I think Sheets would be #3 in that vote just because of the performances of Penny and Peavy. Same goes for the All-Star game; Sheets will be either the 3rd man out of the pen or the guy held back in case of extra innings.

Young had one less start and 12 less innings in June (29.2 vs. 41.2), so I can kind of understand that. Webb gave up 2 less earned runs than Sheets (8 vs. 10) but 5 extra runs total. Groundball pitchers can actually have an advantage in the ERA department, since they have a more unearned runs on balance.

Penny... uhhh.... had less wins. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

The scariest part about this is the fact Sheets might have just started to find his strikeout groove. Also, if he cuts down on his walks teams better start finding a different way to win other then swinging the bat http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

well, that shows me that I needed to look at the comparison of those guys side-by-side. I pretty much assumed that either Peavy or Penny would take it based on all the coverage and media love they've had this past month. Sheets just quietly got the job done.

So Braun was rookie of the month, did they announce player of the month?
