Brewer Fanatic

Thank you, Toby.

Brewerfan's Toby Harrmann has decided to step down as Minor League Guru, as increased responsibilties in his school, work, and outside interest life have left him very little time to commit himself to the site as he used to.

For those of you who are newer, Toby joined up with Brewerfan.net within days of its inception (along with Colbyjack), and his Power 50 helped put Brewerfan.net on the map, so to speak. He has contributed many quality articles, interviews, and discussion pieces since June of 2001. He's reported for the site from spring training, and has done radio interviews for the site on several occasions. He's been a reliable member of the staff, and Brewerfan.net would not be where it is today without his contributions.

Toby's hoping to stay on in a "part-time" role, hopefully doing monthly Power 50's.

In the wake of this news, I've gone ahead and re-organized our current resources to hopefully make a seamless transition:

Brian Kapellusch - President / Director of Site Operations

Patrick Ebert - Graphic Artist / Director of Amateur Baseball Operations

Jim Goulart - Director of Research

Bill Batterman - Director of Major League Operations

Michael Clifton - Director of Minor League Operations

Toby Harrmann - Power 50 Editor

Todd Troha - Photographer

Michael will be basically stepping into Toby's role (minus the power 50) and hopes to start cranking out articles on a regular basis.

Again, thank you Toby, for all your hard work.

Same here as with cricks. I stumbled onto the site when it was brewerfan.com. I was to dumb to figure out anything with the forums, so all I knew was the power 50. I checked back all the time to see a new one. That one feature gave this brewer fan hope for the future. All of the losing had gotten to me and I knew nothing of the minors. The knowledge I found with the Power 50 kept hope alive. Thank you Toby for all of the hard work you've done. Hope that part time is more than the phrase implies. Thanks again.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

If this is just another one of your excuses for putting out the Power 50 late, I'm not laughing. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Thanks again for all the work you have done Toby. The Power 50 has always been one of the best things about this site, and always a major talking point. The work you put in has always been appreciated, even if your love for all things Ballouli has not.

Well I for one don't find that acceptable. Like a good pusher Toby's got us hooked on the Power 50 and we need our FIX. Now Toby wants to leave us to go semi-cold Turkey?!!? No way Jose. Get your butt in front of that computer and make up Power 50's for the rest of the year, send them to Brian and he'll post them weekly. Most of us won't know the difference (Harold will be complaining about where Vandenberg is ranked every week), but we'll be blissfull in our ignorance because we'll have updates.

Seriously, Toby your minor league efforts were truely apprecieated, good luck with school etc. and stop by once in awhile and enlighten us. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Ditto all of the appreciation from posts above.

The Power 50 was my intro to the minor leagues, and what got me rehooked on baseball. I found it right about the time I started going down to spring training every year, and it served as my guide of who was who.

I also think that Toby's presence helped make the board the fun place that it was and still is. It was cool to see that other young guys with similar outside interests (ie. music) were bigger Brewer nuts than me.

I don't know how you got so knowledgable of the minors, but thanks for keeping the rest of us up to date.

I was wondering about what might fill the Power 50 void if Toby is going to a monthly deal. I enjoyed having a part in the poll that was put together over the winter, and found it interesting what everyone else thought the rankings should be. Would there be any interest in doing a brewerfan reader poll that was posted monthly opposite the times Toby put out his Power 50? I would be willing to put it together if everyone e-mails their top 50. I figure it wouldn't take too long to copy them into a spreadsheet and come out with an average. However, I don't want to infringe upon Toby and undermine his rankings either.
