Guide to....

SenatorShriv has brought up the idea to create a "guide to spring training", which I think will be really useful. I'd like to see this expanded to Milwaukee and all of the minor league cities as well.

First of all, i'd like to come up with categories of useful information that would could define for each city. I'll get the ball rolling, and then i'll edit this post to include the suggestions I'd like to go forward with.

Getting the ball rolling:

Best Burger

Best local-type food

Best ethnic food

Bar/Tavern you must visit

Most team-oriented Bar/Tavern

Best places to stay near the park

Best seats in the park

Must-See attractions?

Sorry for being nitpicky, but is there any reason not to have the subject be "Guide to Spring Training"? Just for easy reference + whatnot, unless this is just temporary and you're going to make a permanent page out of it sometime..

Yeah, this is supposed to be a thread to generate generic categories for ALL Brewers' cities (including Maryvale). After which, we'll put the actual data on a non-forum page for reference.

Brian, I believe you had this in the past (and it might still be there for all I know), but you could also include basic facts, such as distance from Milwaukee, directions to the ballpark (or at least a link to directions), etc.

So far I like the suggestions. Maybe we could add some testimonies from people that could add some hints such as arriving early, at what time, where to see the minor leaguers, when the best time of ST to go, when the weather starts to really warm up down there, etc.

Dirrections and nearby hotels and restaurants would definately be a nice touch. Maybe even something basic about "must see" places as well. But then maybe I'm just getting carried away.

-nearest custard stand

-ability to tailgate?

-best seats for that time of year (eg, don't sit 1st base side at Miller Park on the main level when it's 85 with 85% humididy)

-for spring training: places to stay given the schedule--for instance, if while here the Crew is in the east valley mainly (Tempe, Mesa, Scottsdale, Phoenix) vs the northwest valley (surprise, peoria) vs mainly at Maryvale.
