Who's got the Ford Crown Victoria

The fellas at work were giving me the business, saying that George Bush would probably be better served NOT to have his name on the Crown Vic...

Yeah, they say any publicity is good publicity, but I just don't know about that. Come to think of it, maybe I should have placed a Bush sticker in the window of my '89 Ford Tempo aka "The Beach Cruiser" last election, it may have been the deciding factor. One thing's for sure, if I ever ran for public office I'd never want one of my stickers on a Honda CRX, it just has to be a bad sign when your sticker's on a car that never gets out of the driveway or off the side of the road.

Or we could make a "Brewerfans for Kerry" and "Brewerfans for Bush" pair of bumper stickers. There. Everybody's happy.

What about Nader? Or the Communist Party? "Brewerfans for Communists." Of course "Brewerfans for Nader" would have a nice bit of irony about it.

Note: I in no way endorse Nader or Communists.

Why must '89 Tempos be nicknamed The Beach Cruiser? A friend of mine had the same car with the same nickname in high school.

Wow, that's absolutely incredible. This friend of yours, is he a super-genius too?

Tell me, mother, is yours powder blue?

No, it used to be gray, but the paint was almost completely gone, as is often the case with gray Fords from the 80's and early 90's. It also had a huge dent in the back from where I jump-kicked it after finding out it would cost a couple hundred dollars to fix a car worth a couple hundred dollars, so I just drove it into the ground, then sold it to someone for $80. It also had a set of 3 fake chrome hubcaps. A friend of mine had them on his car and lost one, so I asked if I could have them. He said "you know there's only 3 right?" I told him that's precisely why I wanted them.

And did the nickname have anything to do with the movie Friday?

Indirectly, yes, but there is a story which involves sand. I used it as a delivery car, and the steering was messed up which made the tires wear unevenly, and one night I lost control of it around a corner on a patch of sand and whipped a donut. I first thought to call it the dune buggy, but then decided on Beach Cruiser for the way it handled the sand.

My wife had an '89 Tempo, and it spontaneously started on fire.

I have a theory that they only made Tempos in '89, but claimed to make them for close to a decade as I've known probably 20 people who owned one, and all but maybe 3 of them rocked the eight-nine.
