What's the easiest Refresh method on Game threads?

Verified Member

Hey, can someone smarter than me please tell me an easier way to refresh game threads?

I keep hitting my browser refresh thinking that it will bring back any new posts, but that darn URL has the Start and End parameters in it, so I keep bringing back the same posts.

I end up going back to the main page and hitting refresh, then clicking on the game thread again to get new Start and End parameters.

Follow me? There must be an easier way.

Thanks in advance!

There IS a better way! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

At least what I do, is temporarily modify my preferences to show 500-1000 posts per page. That way, there's only one page of posts and when you refresh you don't have to worry about those start/end parameters. Works like a charm for me.

It's roughly the same thing, but you can also just click the previous page number and then click back. But still annoying.

Some load the previous page then use the link that's there to return to where they started.

Others change the end of the URL in the location bar. Example:

When you see ... topic&start=261&stop=280

change the stop=280 to a much higher number and load the page again.

I remember a post suggesting that one person found it easier to change his ezBoard preferences to load a lot more messages on a single page.

The bottom line, however, is that there's no definitive easy solution that everyone would prefer.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

You beat me to it! That's what I was thinking of but couldn't describe.

Here's another thought.

All modern browsers have a tab feature. (Note that I exclude Internet Explorer from any list of anything modern.)

You could continually reload the page with the thread list. When a new post appears in the game thread, open it in a new tab.

Some modern browsers: Firefox (several platforms), Mozilla Suite (several platforms), Netscape 7 (several platforms), Netscape 8 Beta (Windows), Safari (Mac), Opera (several platforms), K-Meleon (Windows), OmniWeb (Mac), Camino (Mac)

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

Thanks for the ideas. I think changing my preferences to get more on a page sounds like the easiest, but I may have to experiment to see how it performs with my lame dial-up!

Yeah, I'm a FireFox fan. I've also gone OpenOffice. Now if I could just find a suitable substitute for XP, I'd be Microsoft free, but I digress.

Thanks again
