HAPPY 5th ANNIVERSARY BF.NET!

Hey folks, I just wanted to let you all know that it's Brewerfan.net's -fifth- anniversary.

Let's all take a second and give Brian a -huge- thank you for all he does in giving us a place to talk Brewers baseball. This site takes quite a bit of work and it's much appreciated.

Fortunately, Brian has the help of a great staff of moderators who also pour a bunch of time and effort into the site. I for one want to say thanks to all of you guys for what you do to keep my addiction going strong. I've gained a lot of baseball knowledge because of this well run site. Happy Fifth Anniversary Brewerfan.net! Here's to another five!!

perhaps a sticky for this thread untill the season starts?

Actually, it's 5 years in May or June I think... but hey, we can celebrate early

So it's the 5th anniversary year. That gives you the right from now 'til 2007 to celebrate it, or at least mention it, as often as you want. Congratulations!

(And I can't believe I've been participating since 2003. I believe my first post was something misguided, and best forgotten, about Glendon Rusch.)

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Brian becomes a free agent and we stand a strong possiblity of becoming yankeefan.net.

PF gets my vote for reply of the year so far. Now -that- was funny.

Yeah, I may have jumped the gun a bit on the whole Happy Anniversary thing, but I'm a sentamental kind of guy. Without this site, I'd be just another baseball fan, but now that I've found the promised land, my wife says I'm a "sicko" for Brewers Baseball and Brewerfan.net.

Well, technically Brewerfan.net hasn't been around five years.

Any retrospective on Brewerfan history has to include the woebegone tale of the expansion Brewerfan.com franchise, one unfortunate lapse by the Brewerfan accounting staff http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif , and the subsequent aimless wandering of the web for the countless who didn't immediately make the new .net connection.

I always found it ironic that Brewerfan.com's tag line was "It's on the computer". Well, it was for a while, anyway http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif .

Not sure if that makes my initial Brewerfan.com T-shirt worth more or less today...

I'm still a newbie around here, I've only been lurking around for the last year...but I appreciate all the hard work that goes into this site, and all that has in the past. I hope to celebrate the next 5 years, and a playoff berth (or five) with my new Brewerfan.net friends. Thanks guys for giving me the opportunity.

For all of those that aren't "in the know", could you please fill us in on the brewerfan.com conversion to brewerfan.net fiasco? I see people allude to it all the time allude to it, but nobody ever explains it. It seems like an inside joke. Nobody ever likes being on the outside of those.

Ralph, sounds to me like the ".com" name wasn't re-upped in time and someone else claimed the name and tried to hold it ransom. So, instead of giving in to the squatter, ".net" was formed.

I know it has been mentioned on here before and that's what I derived from what I read. I'm not an internet sleuth though and my explanantion could be more wrong than it is right.

However, I'm sure someone with classified info can probably tell the story accurately.

"His whole life is a fantasy camp. People should plunk down $2000 to live like him for a week. Sleep, do nothing, fall ass-backwards into money, mooch food off your neighbors and have sex without dating... THAT'S a fantasy camp."
