Carlos Beltran to miss Milwaukee series

Carlos Beltran (oblique) didn't accompany the Mets on their flight to Milwaukee Monday and is expected to be placed on the disabled list.

 

"We just want to be rather safe and not rush him out there," general manager Omar Minaya said. The Mets expect Beltran to miss around two weeks due to the injury. Lastings Milledge will continue to play center field while Beltran is out.

 

This is off of rotoworld. A small break for the crew. Hopefully, we can capitalize on the Mets' misfortunes.

XM just reported that Beltran will indeed be placed on the DL prior to the start of the series tonight.

Victorino looks like he's headed to the DL for the Phillies also.

He's scheduled for an MRI today.

Arggh. I like the Mets and Beltran (also, I have Carlos on my fantasy team). It's good for the Brewers that they'll miss him, but it sucks that he's going to be out 2 weeks.

Victorino looks like he's headed to the DL for the Phillies also.

 

And his replacement, Michael Bourn, turned his ankle in the game last night when he stumbled over the bullpen mound. Fortunately for Bourn, it appears that it looked worse than it was.

I'll take it... every win the Brewers get is a decrease in the magic number, regardless of what the Cubs do... It's also a decrease in a potential wild card magic number.

He'll miss the Cubs too, but the Brewers need to win games right now since they are going to be in the wild card race as well, and missing Beltran, Victorino, and Utley is a big help, even if the Cubs miss them too.

You realize this sets us up for Milledge to have about 10 hits with 4 HR's against us right? With the ways things have been going lately, I would not be surprised.

Anytime you take Beltran out of that lineup, you instantly have a better chance at winning. Not only that, he's got a fantastic glove in center. Milledge, not so much.

Beltran being gone is good for us. I'll have to go with the flow here and say it helps the Brewers. I don't care if he faces the Cubs or not. We need to win our games and if we do that, it matters very little what Chicago does.
