If the Packers agree to trade Rodgers, what do people think we'll get for him?

The Athletic suggested a deal with the Jets. 1st rounder (15th overall) in 2023, 2nd rounder in 2024 (which turns into a 1st rounder if Rodgers plays in 2024), plus WR Elijah Moore.

I like this deal. I thought highly of Moore coming out of college two years ago. He could potentially fill the slot role on the team.

The Rodgers saga is honestly just comical at this point. Every day is like three new ridiculous articles all with differing opinion. No matter how much Rodgers says they are all a bunch of garbage the entire world runs with each one like he is going to play for the Packers, be traded, and retire all during the 2023 season.

*Rodgers has connecting flight through EWR* Media: "Rodgers trade to New York Jets is near completion!!!!"

Anyone see the Twitter post from Brandon Marshall yesterday, possibly leaking Rodger's retirement?

I'm sure it's all a hoax..........................

Wasn't that a video and later in the video he said that's what he would suggest to Rodgers?  I did not see the video, but I saw someone else post below it.  So that could be wrong too.

Not sure, I just saw the Twitter post with the words on his laptop top or w/e it was.

NFLPA gave out team grades based on a survey of over 1300 players on things like facilities, how the teams treat families, travel etc. Packers graded out really well (Washington not so much):

I think the Cardinals may have Washington beat.

Treatment of Families : F

Nutrition: F-

Weight Room: F-

Training Room: F-

Locker Room: F

The only things that received good grades were the staff and the travel. For staff it really isn't saying much as only 5 occasions in those two categories was a team a C+ or worse.

I don't know how they calculated the overall rating but they had Washington at 32 (Cards at 31). Equally horrible. If money was equal, I don't know why a FA would choose either team.

Looks like both had three F- and one F. Other grades were...

ARI: A, B+. B+, F
WAS: A+, C+, D, D+

I used to enjoy the preliminaries to the draft and FA offseason... but last season should teach everyone that 98.73% of what is out there is clickbait. And worse...it isn't even convincing click bait anymore.  I think reporters have figured out that volume is good enough and they don't even need a hint of quality to the reporting.  People are too gullible and will go read any piece of trash thrown out there.

That is Reason #38 that I'm ready to move on from Rodgers...end the drama.  Basically where I was the last couple years of Favre too.

If Rodgers decided to retire before March 17 (when the window opens for his fully guaranteed, $58.3 million option bonus to be exercised) and then unretired before the start of the regular season, the cap-strapped Packers would have a problem. They’d either have to pay him the bonus or owe that same amount in base salary for 2023 (upping his total pay to $59.465 million) and would have to get into cap compliance by the end of that day. If not, the Packers would have to trade Rodgers under duress — likely to the team of his choice — or cut him. Rodgers’ new team could then spread out the cap hit over four seasons by exercising the option bonus.

That would be a crazy scenario and would be interesting to see.  If it got to that point then something really bad happened or perceived to have happened from Rodgers point of view.  This is like Farve 2.0 all over again and as a Bears fan it is rather comical to watch unfold.  I think Rodgers is far more vindictive than Farve was and I wouldn't be surprised if this is something that Rodgers does.  Probably forces him into a trade to somewhere he wants to go maybe Miami, Vegas or Detroit?  If this scenario plays out it would tie the Packers hands completely and they would have basically no say on where he is going.  So if Rodgers wanted to play for the Vikings or the Lions the Packers would have to trade him to those teams and at that point they are probably only getting minimal compensation for it.  So something like a 2nd or 3rd round draft pick in '24 for Rodgers.

It is oddly similar and amusing.  But not nearly as funny as the Bear's QB situation for the last 30 years. 😝😂

I have to imagine the league would step in if something like that happened.

What would the league do?  They really wouldn’t do anything and if they did they would have an issue with the NFLPA and the owners.

Basically it would be the NFL telling the Packers sorry about your situation but get under the cap or face consequences.

No way they let a player have that much power by threatening to retire. This isn't going to happen anways.

In the scenario that was presented it was the player retires and then unretires not the player threatening to retire.

Why wouldn't Rodgers just tell the Packers who he wants to be traded to in the first place?

I highly doubt that the Packers trade Rodgers anywhere without getting his blessing, or try to force him to stay if he doesn't want to.  And I highly doubt that a team will trade for him without getting assurances from Rodgers that he wants to play for them.
