An Awesome Trivia Contest from Southwest Brewer

Well folks, it seems as if yet another member has been the recipient of some good fortune, which he has decided to share with the site. This trivia contest is for a copy of Ball Four by Jim Bouton.

Being in Nevada, our fine friend is unable to attend a Long Wong's event, or fan Fest, but Southwest Brewer will as always, be with us in spirit. I'd like to take this moment to remind you of the Long Wong's away game on May 6th, @ La Dodgers 9:10 pm cst. Bouton's tale of baseball will be sent to the winner by mail.

This contest will run untill it's been answered correctly. I don't even have the answer so don't ask me for help, you may be able to coax the contest's donor into some help if you ask nicely though.

Without further delay, and with a large thank you to Southwest Brewer I give you the opportunity to get your hands on a great read.

-----------------------------------------------------------

7 times in the past 50 years the AL (4 times) and NL (3 times) have been so close that they were decided by the outcome of 1 final at bat. Twice this situation occured with players on the same team. (for example if Fielder has a 2006 BA of .34444 and Moeller has a 2006 BA of .34447 - the championship came down to one at bat between players on the same team) In 2003 Pujols had a .3578 and Helton had a .3585 batting average.

What 2 sets of players were involved, which 2 years, and which team for each year did these players play?

Hope you weren't expecting an easy one. Also- if you're looking to rid yourself of Brewers memorabilia, feel free to post a contest here,or PM me and I'll get a contest going for you.

1976 - Brett and McRae - KC

there is only one true answer i believe, as the other two did not really come down to the last at bat....Mueller/Ramirez for sure did not, as Mueller was ahead coming in to the game, and only he played, making an out......

Terry and Hafey I am not sure about, as I can not find anything conclusive about a final at bat.

I know a lot about George Brett for some reason, I was always a fan of him when I was young. I think because his last name is the same as my first. I lucked out if Hafey/Bottomley was the other one, I was looking at my Baseball Encyclopedia when I saw the question.

I don't have it, which is why I tried to get it right away when I saw the prize. I'll send you my address, either via e-mail or PM.
