Are you figuring Frelick will be brought up in June? Because if he's up for the full year, 90 starts seems way too few. And if Yelich is only playing 100 games in the field, that means that Winker is going to play a lot more in the field, or you're predicting he'll get dumped sometime during the season.

Thanks. I’m predicting Frelick gets called up by June or earlier if Yelich gets injured. Once Frelick gets called up, there’ll hopefully be no reason for Winker to set foot on the outfield grass anymore.

If Yelich plays 100 games in the field, DHs 30 games and is injured/rested for the remainder, that won’t cost Winker many ABs, especially since Winker should sit against lefties.

I think they'll start the season with Yelich, Mitchell, Frelick, and Taylor as "OF only" guys. With the Anderson signing, he should be the 5th OF if needed, and Winker is another option, although I think he'll primarily be DH. I think Hiura is gone before opening day, but if not, he's an option as well. I expect Wiemer will debut at the MLB level this year, but not to start the season.

I don't expect any more additions, so the real question is whether they want to start Frelick on the opening day roster, or if they keep him down a while to gain a year's service time. I think he's good enough to have a shot at "top three in ROY voting," so I think/hope they have him on the roster all year.

Yelich, Mitchell, and Taylor as the starting OF, Perkins as 4th OF, Winker, Anderson, and Hiura (LF) as corner OF backups. Turang as emergency CF, based on who is/will be on the 40-man.

Frelick and Wiemer will make things very interesting, and by interesting, I mean difficult. I could see the Brewering having to DFA Perkins for one, and probably DFA Hiura/Brousseau/Owen Miller to make room for another - barring a decision to deal Winker and move Yelich to DH full time.

There's 0 chance Perkins makes the Opening day roster. He has 30 games for career at AAA. At least as the options go currently. Go crazy on a trade moving 2+ OFs then maybe he lands on OD roster.

Getting through Spring training healthy is #1 factor who will be on Opening Day OF roster. Which rookie looks dialed in and can Taylor look just as ready.  Taylor is a perfect veteran RP with value get from a team expected last in their respective division for that team to trade for.  Amir Garrett or Josh Staumont from KC for example.

Combination of nagging injury history and I have less faith in his bat than Frelick/Wiemer.

Mitchell did show a lot of promise in his short stint with the Brewers last year.

I am more confident that Frelick will be up my mid-May though. The season he had last year plus his speed and glove will make him our regular CF until Jackson is ready in 2024 or 2025 and push Sal to LF. Yelich will DH primarily by that time.

I believe they’ll keep Winker this year as our primary DH, and he will have success at AMF. I think Weimer will be in AAA for most of the year unless Mitchell struggles and is sent back down, and then he bumps Taylor as the 4th OF.
But I do believe Weimer is our RF in 2024 100%. He has a great combination of tools that make him that guy.

And Turang shows enough that he will be our 2nd baseman this year. While moving to SS when we trade Adames in 2024 into 2025.
It is inevitable that Brewers trade Burnes and Adames between the end of this season into 2025. No way they can keep all three of Willy, Corbin, and Brandon. They’ll extend Woodruff though and he’s the Ace.

They used an option during an offseason?  Feels like Rule 5 protection? Then required an option to not be on the Opening day roster?

That sounds right. He needed to be added to the 40-man in 2018 so they did it immediately following the season for the sake of the Rule 5 draft, which then triggers an option year the following spring.
