Trevor Bauer Reinstated; Eligible Immediately

This was one of the weirdest stories I can recall.

I formed an opinion very early because I didn't have a high opinion of Bauer and it was so shocking.
Then a lot more stuff came out and I pretty much stuck behind that opinion.

Then the video of her came out after the encounter she said was violent and she's just laying in the bed, she tapes him and giggles and...now I don't know what to think.

I'll say this...we should probably not judge as quickly as we do...though it's very hard given this particular subject.
And I would not sign him even if he was going to take a minimum salary to come here.

I also anticipate a lawsuit by him to get payment for his lost pay that I think he may have a chance to win.

Only able to make the league minimum in 2023....

I don't think he'll play. He'll view it as playing for the league minimum. I don't have any special insight into him, but he's clearly got an enormous ego.

I'm really not sure how I'd feel about him playing for us if he did play for the minimum. It'd require me knowing exactly what happened and I'll never know that.

What the hell, I'd take it. He's gonna play for someone. Why make it the Cards or someone else.

MLBTR write up indicates this ruling puts the Dodgers about $1M shy of the luxury tax for 2023.

Guess we’ll really see how serious they are about resetting their tax payer status now.

They were apparently waiting on this, but wasn't there the possibility he was going to get backpay?

I thought there was the potential he'd get paid for the time he was suspended or partial pay. I'm sure I'm getting this wrong, but the argument being his suspension without charges was so long relative to how other situations were handled(Ozuna). Though...these were far more significant....

Anyway, setting aside the validity of the claims, was that not the case?

Yeah, definitely not a lawyer over here, but this kind of feels like a middle ground ruling.

Could have upheld the suspension through 2023 (LAD/MLB preferred outcome) or could have ruled LAD owed him for all of 2022 too, which would probably have additional luxury tax implications as well.

Why do I have this sinking feeling he's going to sign with the Cardinals or Cubs....

Cardinals seem too sanctimonious, but they could use an Ace(hole) so who knows.

Cubs ownership and Bauer appear to think similarly in certain regards, could be a match.

Funniest/scariest comment I saw was “Steve Cohen wakes up in a cold sweat”

ADULT POST

I remember reading quite  a bit about it, the most sick part was that it seemed like she was inexperienced in the BDSM side of things and he liked things a little on the rough side (to put it mildly). The BDSM community openly stated that its so so important that people have clear boundaries before even engaging with things like this, and consent is a real big part of that community, because ultimately it requires a ton of trust

When he suggested strangulation (AKA choking) i dont think she took that to mean being actually choked out, sometimes accidents happen, but to wake up with him violating her somewhere she never consented to (all while she was out cold) there cant be an wiggle room there, and the man's lucky for me not to be seeing time behind bars

Any team attached with him after this deserves all the scorn and protests

For reference, near myself there's a rugby club where there was a rape trial involving two men (consensual sex then another man joined which she never consented to), they got cleared but all were fired from Ulster rugby after a few protests, its so damaging for corporations to be linked with people like this in any way

I don't think Bauer plays in MLB ever again. Can't touch that. He's going to get paid something like $22+ million when the Dodgers release him. I just don't think any team will touch the guy,, and I'm 100% ok with that.

Bauer's too good to get blackballed out of the league. Ozuna has a job. Chapman had and still might have a job. Russell got banished to Japan but he's not really that good of a player.

Brewers brought back K Rod too

I think there are still levels of disgusting when comparing two different disgusting behaviors.

Choking someone into unconsciousness and raping them is unspeakably awful. TBH it makes Ray Rice look like a boy scout.

I'm not going into details on either case but K Rod is a horrible human being.
