hey I guess I know where LaFleur learned to waste timeouts

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

haven't seen a clock killing drive to win a game in forever

Same with Jones. Fighting for one measly extra yard isn't worth getting the ball stripped from you.

I don't know that he was fighting for yards at that point. Ramsey just did a great job, got his arm around the ball and kinda kept Jones up trying to pull it out.

Sometimes, it's just a great play. Sometimes, you roll the ball backwards for no discernible reason.  I mean, if you could get it Jaire's hands early on, get him to go back across the grain, giving his ability to run in the open field, I guess that'd make some sense. Not as you're getting tackled though(even then, it's really not worth the risk).

Despite what Troy is saying I'm having a hard time understanding how him placing a ball to literally where the defender is waiting with a receiver that wide open is somehow Lazard's fault.

It seemed pretty clear Lazard was supposed to keep going. Sets up a 50/50 ball between he and Rapp. Gotta realize how fast the game moves. Lazard is still running when Rodgers lets that ball go.

That's on Rodgers, but make sense why he'd think Lazard would keep running the route.

get Lowry out of there

There is absolutely ZERO reason to play him over Wyatt at this point. He is just blowing things up. Beat a double team to force the QB out of the pocket for a sack.

Next play, beat his man off the ball, forced the back to change directions. And those were just two plays. That kid is gonna be a stud.

And Quay...just sent him on a little stunt. Had Enagbare almost block the LT, he came in off the edge and punched the ball out.

Finally a different idea than sending Quay right up the middle.

Barry's bad, but he threw a couple nice things out there. That was nice.

Well, that's depressing. Ray Lewis is on the Manningcast and he said Green Bay showed the most interest in drafting him but spent the most time with Baltimore. He was on the phone with Wolf and said that Green Bay would draft him if Baltimore didn't. What might've been.

Wolf has talked about Lewis and Urlacher. Tried to trade up for both. Or maybe it was just Urlacher. I remember those details more clearly. Urlacher was #1 on their board, they were at 14. They had 14 picks, but couldn't trade several because they were comp picks. Tried trading with Philly and Baltimore.

I'm in the camp that thinks Lazard was right.  Rodgers didn't see the safety. Lazard read the D and sat down in a huge hole.  If he'd have kept going, the safety either clocks him or has a better chance than Lazard to catch it given the angles they were running (Lazard over his shoulder, the safety running up to it).

I remember discussion about drafting both and they certainly tried to move up for Urlacher.  He was also my draft crush that year.

Same thing happened with Nick Collins.  When GB drafted him (and everyone on TV said it was a colossal reach), the Ravens called and said that they were going to take him two picks later.  Instead, the Ravens drafted Dan Cody, a DE from Oklahoma, who played a total of two games.
