That's a good thing. A thorn in our side is also a thorn in Stl side.  We could use a team to take account for with Stl starting pitchers. Teams align their best pitchers vs whom they need wins against.  We seen Adam Wainwright 5 times each the last 2 seasons 10 total. Cubs 6 total. Pitt 7 total and Cin 5 total.

Miles Mikolas was 5 times last season.

Each win vs a loss in division is a 2game swing. Getting a #4 or 5 SP vs their #1 or #2 SPs can improve your head to head. 2 extra wins is 4games in the standings.

(Of course now Wainwright will have 6 starts vs Milw since I suggested he could see less)

The schedule has changed this year so the teams in each division don't play each other as much as each team will face every team in the AL and NL.  This year the Brewers will only play 13 games against each NL Central team.  All of the games are also spread out more.  For example the Brewers start with the Cubs but then don't see the Cubs again until July.  The Brewers only play 9 games against the NL Central 3 vs Cubs and 6 vs Cardinals in March-May.  The Brewers don't play the Pirates or Reds until June.  After May the Brewers don't play the Cardinals again until September.

Teams really won't be able to lineup starters against their divisional teams like they used to with the older schedule.  The newer schedule spreads everything out.  You can't just pick and choose now on how your starters lineup with your competition in your own division.

This is something I was not aware of. Or flat do not remember happening.  Teams will still be able to plan ahead matchups but the reduction on games played vs eachother must take away 5 games started vs 1 team in a season.

The way to set up matchups is the skip a day 6man rotation(or bullpen start) week pushing back matchups 1 day.

So this new schedule, were the games spread within League matchups? Or more interleague matchups?

The Brewers only have 52 games against NL Central teams I believe.  Which leaves 110 games which are spread out between the AL and NL.  The Brewers will play against every MLB team in ‘23.  The Brewers play the Twins 4 times as usual.  So 106 games against everyone else.
