brewcrewnation = happydays1950 = 2006brewers = markwitx = fox1971 = banned

The above poster(s) has been removed for general trollishness. It's really disappointing, to me. It was a guy who was a serious troll at another message board, and I decided to give him a shot to stick here, letting bygones be bygones. I guess the tempation to troll is just too much for people, sometimes.

Brian, not that you get pleasure out of it, but I'm pleased to see markwitx removed, as I thought he was very annoying in the in-game threads, to the point where I didn't want to post there because of the posts.

I dig the use of multiple screennames, that there's professional trolling.

Seriously, I can't think of a single post that has merited banishment as much as the one that loser made today. It wasn't a heat of the moment personal vendetta thing or the result of being provoked by another member. Nope, dude just started a thread telling everyone that Sheets has a torn rotator cuff.

Well, I hate to say I told you so...but...

markwitx did horrible, horrible things on the ESPN board, which basically sent me here permanently. When I saw that he had started posting here, it upset me. I called him Fox a couple times in IGT (by the way, he did the same crap with posting each play in seperate threads on ESPN, which drove everyone there nuts), and I was emailed by both Mark and Brian the Automator saying that I was out of line, and that Mark had changed his ways, was sorry and just wanted to be a cool Brewer fan again.

Then today (although 2006brewers did have a few troll-like posts before today) the Fox returned. I can't say I'm surprised, as I called this and warned Brian months ago.

Once a troll, always a troll.

You were out of line. We're the moderators, so let us moderate.

I'm under the opinion that everyone deserves a second chance. He won't get a third.

Usually I would have shrugged it off, but he basically ruined an entire message board single-handedly.

Has he attempted to apologize or explain himself at all?

No, I understand, but he did come out and apologize at the ESPN board, so I figured i'd give him another shot. As far as trolls go, it's really no big deal here. I can ban IP's, and it doesn't take long to weed trolls out.

No, and he shouldn't bother wasting his time or mine.

[ May I ask why a poster is allowed/can have multiple screen names? I have suspected there are some fairly regular posters that are posting under differing screen names. Is this the case? ]

There's nothing programatically that prevents a user from creating multiple accounts.... however, when i'm able to determine that one person has two accounts, it's pretty much bans-ville.

EZboard allows it, that way you can post as different names in different forums. You could thus be "I Love Sheets" here and "I Love Redd" on a Bucks board. But if someone actually uses multiple names here, I'd get a little suspicious. With the approval process Brian has now, I'd guess that he probably wouldn't let it fly without an explanation.

Well, I for one am fairly shocked. I watched the fox stuff unfold on the ESPN board from a distance, but had no clue that was him. Yeah, the posting of play-by-play stuff in the IGT's was a bit annoying and he didn't really post here otherwise, but it was relatively harmless and seemed like a guy who was just into the games. That said, I'm shocked that it was him who brought the ESPN board to its knees and posted that today.

No kidding. Even if we frequent participants had been able to read between the lines (even) faster and see through the false post, just having it there threatens the site's credibility.

So thanks for the swift response today, and good riddance to this guy.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

Also remember that different people may use the same computer. That will give multiple accounts the same IP address.

The poster previously known as Robin19, now @RFCoder

EA Sports...It's in the game...until we arbitrarily decide to shut off the server.

I sure hope that 1971 isn't indicative of this guy's birth year. That's a little old for being childish.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

I apologize, cause I am sure this seems like a really silly question, but I was just curious as to what exactly you guys would define as a "troll," and just how having two handles indicates "trolldom"? I know its silly but I had trouble finding another thread about it. Thanks!

A troll usually refers to a moron who has nothing to contribute and just starts threads and makes posts to stir the pot.

For example, a thread stating that Buster Olney has reported on ESPN that Ben Sheets is out for the year.

Trolls are also known for bringing up the same thing over and over, when there's no factual basis. Something along the lines of "strikeouts are ten times worse than all other outs" or "everyone knows that Lee has been way better than Jenkins over their careers". They will then follow that statement by flaming anyone who disagrees - never backing it up statistically. "Well, I'm sorry, but if you can't see how bad strikeouts are, you're a *&^( (*&()*&()*& (&^&^" idiot".

Finally, bad spelling and grammar are a must for the troll species.
