Really don't understand the "fans" on Twitter who are in uproar over this move and using it to take another shot at Attanasio and the front office. I'm not even sure if the Dodgers would tender Suter a contract at $3.0 Mil. with his declining numbers. He's a great guy and all, but this is a business....

Elon can't run that place into the ground fast enough.

Here’s the kicker….We kept Suter over Lamet with playoffs on the line in 2022, knowing full well that Suter was gone in 2023 anyways with too high arby.. Lamet also could have been kept with arby to fill a late inning role this season or cut too. Just cannot fathom that trade for a first place team.  And no it cannot be said enough. It is still 2022 and the whole end of the season still burns.

Attanasio said that $ had nothing to do with that trade and that even now the team can afford bringing everyone back. Can’t believe it then or now. Throw the reckless Rosenthal trade in and you really start to wonder what is going on.

It's 2070. The Brewers have just won their second World Series to mark the 100th season in franchise history, and yet in the background, with the confetti falling and the champaign bottles popping, you can faintly hear a couple of 80 year old dudes still stewing over the Josh Hader trade....

As well as 4th and 26, the Seahawks NFC champ, Jeff Suppan Game4, and Marcum Game 6 (no one in the state wanted him to start that one).

Some people just need to get a life.

I was there for all of those games, and they hurt no doubt. But I've long since moved on.

And there remains very scant evidence that retaining Hader would've been enough to get us over the hump with the team playing as poorly as it did since Memorial Day, a significant portion of that time WITH Hader. The Hader deal doesn't even come close to those levels.

You moved on and now comment on others who have those bad sports memories….Big step of growth.

You are going with that take on the Hader thing. I just will add that Hader should have been kept if that was the return and that every single Brewers fan was expecting the team to simply add talent to the MLB roster at the deadline. No one even THOUGHT about taking that type of talent away. Like a seller.

The point of people needing to get a life and move on at some point stands regardless. Sports are just entertainment; there are bigger things to despair over.

It's not a "take". It's the cold hard evidence. We did not play like a playoff team after Memorial Day, including with Hader.

As far as "the return", it's underwhelming as it relates to this season seeing as Taylor Rogers pretty much imploded for us. Not that Hader did any better, FWIW...But Gasser and Ruiz are two really promising prospects who are on the periphery of the top 100 right now. Their success (or failure) will determine the final outcome of this trade.

Being a "buyer" or "seller" is largely a fan developed concept. Stearns made it consistently clear throughout his tenure that his goal was to win now AND in the future. The Hader trade, whether you love it or hate it, was a practical attempt to straddle that fine line. Had we kept Hader, not only would we have almost certainly failed to win a World Series, but we would also have been faced with an even lesser return this offseason with Hader only under contract for one more season and coming off a year where he posted a -1.0 WAR and an ERA over 5.00...

People are remarkable at holding grudges. HOlding grudges for a long time doesn't mean one doesn't have a life.

Yes, but to the point where every other thread becomes about the Hader trade in some form or another? I don't know. Seems like an open question...

After they didn't pick up the option on Boxberger ($2.25M), it was a fait accompli that Suter, who pitched lower-leverage innings, was gone at $3.1M.

What I don't know is why did they waive him rather than just non-tender him?

With being out on waivers and claimed by Colorado he goes right to his final year of arbitration with no risk of taking a pay cut. The Brewers probably figured he would get claimed and were doing right by him after they had decided to move on.

I wonder if this wasn't a way to establish a market price for him before arbitration needed to be offered. If he passes waivers the Brewers (and Suter) would know he isn't getting $3 million and there would be a small window of time before arbitration has to be offered to work out a deal at a lower price.

On side note am I the only one who every time Hader is mentioned and all I think of is Marsha Marsha Marsha?

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.
