Thanks for your service, Brett, i'll miss your quick pace and velociraptor demeanor.  I am also convinced you were communicating pitches from the BP during the covid season with your bullpen drum sessions, for which I thank you.

Weird timing. You would think the Brewers would have wanted that 40 man spot prior to the Rule 5 deadline.

Unlinke Ron Robinson above, I am not the least bit surprised.

I see this team trimming payroll wherever possible. Suter was an easy trim. I also think Renfroe and Wong are shipped out.

Yeah, Suter's level of production just doesn't justify a $3 mil. salary, especially for a small-market team such as the Brewers that is trying to remain competitive on a limited budget. We have better, cheaper options.

But I'm not naive enough to think that the team won't suffer at least somewhat from the loss of his presence in the clubhouse. He was one of the mainstays throughout this historical run of success and brought his fun-loving personality with him every step of the way. He will be missed, not just by the players, but by fans such as myself. Best of luck in Colorado, Brent!

It's not weird timing, today is the tender deadline. The Brewers didn't need the space for the rule 5 guys anyway, they never got to 40. They just anticipate using the spots down the road.

They must not have been able to trade him for anything, which I suppose  goes to show that despite a solid stat sheet, his projected pay was more than his perceived worth. Hell of a 31st round draft pick though.

I don't think that is the case because the Rockies will pay him. If his projected pay was more than his worth than nobody would have claimed him like Boxberger.

Makes perfect sense as a baseball move, Suter was getting too expensive for his production.

I'm still really sad to see the Raptor go though, seriously one of my all-time favorite players. 31st round pick who throws an 86 mph 4-seamer 70% of the time. And it works. Somehow. And is a really funny guy who seems like a genuinely good person and teammate on top of it. Gonna miss him.

I can understand and am not bothered by the move, but at closer to veteran minimum prices I would expect Suter will bounce around the league for awhile. Not Jesse Orosco long, but it's not hard to imagine him pitching to 40 either in shorter stints.

Really don't understand the "fans" on Twitter who are in uproar over this move and using it to take another shot at Attanasio and the front office. I'm not even sure if the Dodgers would tender Suter a contract at $3.0 Mil. with his declining numbers. He's a great guy and all, but this is a business....

Ok, I could be more specific: there is not a lot of surplus value in Suter, as the Brewers were not able to trade him. That is not to say there was no interest in Suter, as he was claimed by a 94 loss team near the top of the waiver priority.

Every move they make now is viewed through the “ didn’t they learn anything from the Hader trade? “ prism…….it’s ridiculous.

It’s the first thing Curt Hogg tweeted….

here’s my answer……the message it sends is they are going to try and improve the team next season and thought they could use the 3 million in some other way that will do that.

I mean you would think Suter was Robin Yount or something based on some of the reactions.

he was a nice bullpen piece and a good clubhouse guy……he was here 7 years……nothing lasts forever.

Hogg is not being helpful here for sure. Just feeding the wolves and completely misevaluating the situation.
