Rule V pickups...

I can't see us using a roster spot on any of these guys. If we're rebuilding sure take the biggest arm or toolsy-ist bat. We have better AAA arms like Hobie Harris who deserve a shot and some utility type bats like Cam Devanney who wouldn't cost anything and can stay in the organization if they need to be sent down.

Hobie Harris isnt with us anymore... He signed with Nationals couple days ago.

I went to the MLB.com site and the wording of the rule is not clear to me. However, this caught my attention:

That seems like a change that greatly limits the utility of making a rule 5 selection; effectively they have no options left because you have to waive them to send them back to the minors (in perpetuity, or at least the next season). So it only makes sense for players you feel you'll never demote (or you can work out a trade with the original team).

That has always been the rule as far as I remember. For whatever reason many always say the player has to be offered back to the original team, however before being offered back that player is put on waivers. Subsequent season means 2023 for this year's draft. If the player clears then goes back to the original team if they want them. It doesn't mean the player can't be optioned in future years if added to the 40 man in the future.

Once they've met the requirements, they're able to be optioned. Or at least that's how it had been. I believe the Brewers used an option on Wang after the 2016 or 2017 season.

Only once the Rule 5 Draft requirements are met can players be traded, optioned, or designated.

I was looking through some prospects and found 2 I really like.

1)Corey Julks 26 OF Houston.   A bit of a late bloomer, his power didn't pop through until he was 25. Last year he hit .270/.350/.854 with 31 HR and 22 SB. He would seems like a better option than the guy they just signed to a mlb deal.

2) Victor Vodnik 23 Atl RP.   I've been adding him as like a 4th piece in some Burnes/Adames trade to Atl.  He has an upper 90's heater, decent change, and work in progress slider (similar to Javy Guerra stuff wise). He walks to many but I think this guy could be a steal.
