Arnold should not be shocked that ANY Brewers fan is surprised about picking up Wong’s option. Stearns put us all into seller mode on July 31 and there has been no signs of change yet.

And I'm still not convinced that Stearns didn't step down due to direction of the team.

Yes! Me neither. What is happening now is crazy. This isnt normal, right? Stearns maybe said he needs an increased payroll yearly for the next 5 years. MA said no dice, actually needing to cut payroll THIS year with lower attendance. That would produce enough anger and hopelessness to not sign the 5 year extension, cut ties to steer the ship even THIS year and hide in house, not wanting to cause embarrassment to the organization and himself while still getting paid to sit this year out.
Oh, my. It is possible and it makes more sense than what we are told.

If you are right then hallelujah. This team has missed its Burnes/Woodruff WS contention timeline. We need to time our farms positional strength with a strong, controlled pitching core. This team unfortunately, outside of Gasser, is devoid of possible big-league rotation arms until ‘25/‘26

Prospects aside, what do we really have around the diamond that’s WS caliber? A bunch of average to slightly above average hitters, that are mostly slow and unathletic. Team payroll is already at $123M. How is this team supposed to compliment Burnes/Woodruff without decimating the farm and pretty much guaranteeing a another mis-timed pitching/positional core?

With that being said:

One of Burnes/Woodruff needs traded, maybe both, because that’s how we can get that starting pitching core in place with our incredible positional prospect core, which won’t happen until 2025,

Realistically, a minimum of 2 years of positional prospect development. Trading Burnes gets us at least 1 maybe 2 near big-league ready starter prospects that can touch the rotation, along with Gasser, before the end of ‘23, then with 1-2 years of development, join Peralta & Ashby to give the team 3-4, 5 years controlled starters, with Peralta having 2 years as well.

If Woodruff is extended great, then our rotation post-‘24 will be that much stronger. And in 2025-‘26, we have Misiorowski and the young starter arms now in A & A+ that can touch the bullpen and rotation.

This future pitching core rostered with a mostly developed OF of Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer, IF of Turang, Urias, Black, with Chourio, Quero, Brown poised to join and contribute. Not all will develop into above average starters, but enough will that can be complimented with trades and FA signings.

Hoping Stearns didn’t want to wait 2 more years for this development to happen.
