Changes made to how Article: appears in forums - please give input

Okay, it's the offseason so I'm going through my list of fixes for the site. Before, all front page stories appeared in the Brewers forum with the prefix "Article:".

I've split up this system in an attempt to reach a compromise that fills as many goals as possible. Now it works this way:

1. Editorial content still appears in the Brewers forum with prefix "Article:"
2. Transactional news will appear in a new forum "Transactions, Trades, Signings"
3. All minor league reports and news appear in the Minor Leagues forum
4. All videos appears in the "Transactions, Trades, Signings" forum

The prefix "Article" still appears in the Brewers and Minor League forums. Should this remain, should different verbiage be used, or should I just get rid of the prefix?

All I know is that I would prefer the articles not be pinned to the forums.

I think they clog it up.

The thing is that they're not clogging up the forums, they're becoming the most commented-on topics in the Brewers forum right now. Here are the latest article threads in the Brewers forum and their comment count:

3, 3, 108, 8, 9, 57, 53, 17...

As I've mentioned in the past many times, long-running threads are often counter to actual conversation. Having these article threads pop in and out of rotation has actually caused the forum to have an uptick in overall posts for past couple of weeks. Topics tend to become stale within a week or two so them naturally migrating off the first page is generally good for the community at large.

I like it but seems to already be in place. Editorial type articles do create discussion, don't clog anything. Especially this time of year.

Regarding the transaction forum, if the Brewers make a trade or signing it has always been on the main forum, are you saying you don't want that anymore?

No, the transactions forum is ONLY for front page news. As a forum user, continue doing what you’ve all been doing. People didn’t like front page transactions being posted to the Brewers forum so now they will all go to the transactions forum.

I feel like the major league forum is turning into Wall Drug with all these articles that could be duplicate threads. For example...Why does there have to be 2 threads on the Renfroe trade? One an article: and one about the trade as it happened.

One of those was a mistake. The original transaction thread shouldn’t have been in the Brewers forum. I just noticed this and moved it.

I agree 100%

I peruse the site far less now that these poorly written & unnecessary articles clutter up the Brewers discussion forum

These articles need to be in their own forum … they are a nuisance

Why does a box promoting daily e-mails come on every time I open a new page???  I don't need more e-mails clogging up my inbox and I can't turn this message off...

It's happening every time? It's supposed to pop up once a week and that's how often I see it. Once you close it, it will stay closed for a week (I'd set it for an even longer time between appearances if there was a setting to do so).

Yes, it appears every time I open a new page even after I close it by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner.  ?

Hmm. Well that's certainly NOT supposed to happen. What browser and device are you using where this happens? And do you use the site on other devices and does this same thing happen to you?
