Payroll is 11.54% under budget

This Revision is based on 1- We will be tradeing Burnes 2-We obtain Yandy Diaz for Tyrone Taylor, 3-We sign Quintana to a two year deal ( I believe my salary level may be low for 2023 ) We are 11 million under which will leave some room to pick up a veteran Catcher if need be and an additional Bullpen arm. Of all the trades discussed for Burnes I would favor the one with the Dodgers if a) they want to trade for Burnes and b) it would include Miller, Vargas and Pepiot

Burnes trade is not quite there value-wise. Would need one more prospect from the Dodgers, though you could also make up the difference by switching Stone for Pepiot.

Quintana's salary is way too low. Try more like $10 mil AAV.

Yandy Diaz for Taylor isn't a bad idea, though. I actually really like it, as it would allow for Urias to move to 2nd and for Turang to get his feet wet in a non-starting role. Diaz is the sort of high-average/high-OBP hitter we need more of.

Could fit Quintana in I have cap room so that would work. My belief is Urias Is NOT a 3B and would be more comfortable at 2nd which in turn should help him relax more at the plate. I like allowing Turang to break in slowly and he would be a lefty hitting back up for both Adames and Urias. So you are saying Stone as their #7 is rated higher on Trade Value then Pepiot as their #6 ?

Stone has likely surpassed Pepiot on prospect lists after their respective seasons. He's younger, has three plus to plus-plus pitches (as opposed to two for Pepiot), and has exhibited better control. Hence, the difference in Trade Value.  Vargas, Miller, and Stone for Burnes becomes an even trade value-wise. You get your future middle of the order hitter in Vargas and two potential frontline starters in Miller and Stone.

I'm not against acquiring Yandy Diaz, but Taylor wouldn't be enough. You'd have to add someone like Mendez to the package.  Plus, he's not a good 3B.  He'd be great as a Corner INF-DH guy who gets 450-500 ABs or so. If he and Urias are on the team, Urias should be getting most of the starts at 3B (Urias was fine at 3B). Diaz would be a great platoon partner with Tellez (not saying Tellez shouldn't play against some LH).  He could play 3B or DH when he's not playing 1B. He'd help mightily against LHP.

Quintana should get $8-12M a year. I don't get replacing Burnes with him, when he wouldn't be a significant cost savings. Particularly when you have none of the players acquired for Burnes on the 26 man roster.
