Graphics won't display?

Looks bad, but doesn't affect the operations.
That's because Brian has included alt attributes in his image tags. When people can't see images or don't choose to see images, words conveying similar information show up instead. It's important to include alts to make sure web pages are accessible to those who don't benefit from graphics.

Well, it is kinda hard to click any of the buttons on the front page when you can't see what they say.
The alts are actually here, but they're displayed in dark text on a dark background.

Affected links include three in the header (Main logo, Summerfest ad, Long Wongs, and WSSP), eleven in the left sidebar (Features, Power 50, Link Report, Draft, Milwaukee Brewers, Sounds, Stars, Manatees, Power, Helena Brewers, and Arizona Brewers), and eight in the right sidebar (Fan Fest, Player Index, Store, Fan Forum, Scoreboard, Article Crawler, Transactions, and Birthdays).

Luckily, Brian has two styles already in place in his CSS that would address this quickly and easily. It should boil down to simple copy and paste. He can add either class="NavLink" or class="RightBarLink" to the affected anchor tags (not the image tags) and get an adequate result without having to deal with any new styles. The two styles are identical except for two things:

1. RightBarLink has a 1 pixel dotted border on the bottom while NavLink has no border.

2. NavLink changes colors when the link is hovered over or clicked on.

The fix works great in Firefox 2.0, SeaMonkey 1.0.4, and Camino 1.0.2. Mozilla Suite 1.7.13, Opera 8.52, Netscape 7.2, and IE 5.2.3 (Mac) each leave tolerable borders around the text. (I tried adding a img {border: none; } to the CSS, but it doesn't help those browsers.) Netscape 8 would probably render the page the same way as Firefox, SeaMonkey, and Camino. Sorry, I don't have that other awful Microsoft browser, which likes to screw up everything it can. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif

Unfortunately, something seems to break this function entirely in Safari-based browsers (Safari, OmniWeb, etc.), at least in Jaguar. However, the alts do display appropriately on other sites. Fixing that issue might be a more daunting task. I can't offer any advice about that.

Here are screen shots showing the 'fix' using class="NavLink" in SeaMonkey 1.0.4. Note that the only time the page looks this way is when images aren't loaded.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.
