2023 Rule Changes

1) Pitch Clock 15 seconds for bases empty, 20 seconds for runner on. Batter ready with at least 8 seconds left. 2 times a pitcher can disengage the rubber (pickoff?). Batter can call timeout once per ab.

2) No shifts or infielders in outfield

3)1st, 2nd, 3rd bigger bases

Honestly I like all of these. It sounds like the players in the minors adjusted fairly easily and haven't had much issues. I am sure it won't be popular with a bunch of older pitchers, but as a fan shaving almost 30 minutes off the game and getting more overall action is huge.

Let me know if I missed any key components to the rules summary.

I remember a few years ago in Travel ball (teenage years) and somewhat in high school -- they had the boys keep one foot in the box while taking a sign.  I think they had done that with softball, too.  There is no reason a batter should be pulling a Nomar or Braun and fix their gloves, or get a shave and a haircut.  That made the game speed up a lot.

It is all about preparedness.  Teach the pitchers to throw more quickly and they will adapt.

Now, there will still be those fans that get up from the middle of a row 10 times a game to get some random concession, water a horse, or take a selfie next to, um, something.  If someone could do something about that, I would be tickled pink.

I don't get why you say that when the average MILB game time this year was reduced by 26 minutes due to the same set-up.

My brother went to the Timber Rattlers game last night, said the game was only a little over 2 hours.
