I thought the opposite, looks like Allen bulked up and Mellusi slimmed down.

Looking at the roster it appears Allen is 3 pounds less and Melussi is 6 pounds more than last year. Pretty negligible difference in weight but both these guys put the work in the weight room so they likely changed their bodies over the last year.

So this Allen guy is pretty good. For some reason he looks a little more slender than last year

I didn't notice a real difference from last year, but the guy calling the game on FS1 said something a couple times about how he was "about 8 pounds away from being a Heisman candidate." Inferring that he needed to lose a little weight/get into better game shape.

I saw absolutely no sign of any bad weight on him...in fact, just the opposite.

My thoughts:

Considering the talent lost at WR/TE, I really liked what I saw from that group. Both Cundiff & Rucci Look like they can play. Dike has already proven himself, but Markus Allen looked the part after the early whiff.

A lot of easy throws from Mertz, but the thing is, he MADE them. One INC was a drop, the other on the mark but the defender made a nice breakup. He needed to get off to a good start; mission completed.

Despite being beat over the top a few times I think this has a chance to be a real nice secondary. Impressive athletes who are going to get better each week (obviously will need to given the sked).

Not an elite opponent of course, but given the inexperience a great first week for the defense.

You have to go long & far to find better coordinators. Love Leonhards' work, and I think Engram is going to prove to be a great fit here.

He looks like he's got big legs, thick torso and none of that John Clay extra weight on him.

Getting rid of Rudolph is going to help the offense

Those two passes to Dike were really well designed. Especially the TD. That little post-corner with the outside two running I believe a dig and a skinny post. Things seemed to be on time. We'll see how the OL does and how the WRers uncover vs better competition, but looked good tonight.

With his build---the strength in his lower body---I see no real avenue for him to improve by dropping any weight.

I didn't notice any difference either.
