Sal Frelick.......

I am going to put the chances of Frelick being promoted at about 3%.  He may not even be brought up in September.  I think Ruiz is ahead of Frelick at this point and I would put him being called up at about 5%.  If you are expecting Frelick to be called up you are setting yourself up for disappointment.  It is just not going to happen anytime soon.  Maybe the Brewers call him up on 8/31 but I wouldn't expect it.  If he isn't called up by 8/31 I doubt he gets called up at all.

Garret Mitchell is actually hotter right now. Tough decision between the 2, but I bet they simply do nothing. Gotta keep those 40 man roster spots open for no hit, dime a dozen 4th string catchers.

It actually seems like lately they've employed way too many dumpster fire AAAA middle relievers.

Taylor's August OPS is somewhere in the .500s, it seems inexcusable to me to not at least try to improve that position while still in contention for a playoff spot.  While Frelick and Mitchell are producing the best offense in Nashville, Ruiz is not far behind with an OPS in the mid .800s and is already on the 40 man roster.  At the very least Ruiz will likely get on base with his contact and speed tools.

Yeah you have to at least call up Ruiz, at the very minimum. Absolutely no excuse not to.

i can say with pretty good confidence that they will. He has been good at Nashville, brings much needed speed and defensive replacement ability as well. Plus if he does well is a positive spin on the Hader trade.

If Frelick is being kept down to avoid using up his rookie status to begin next season... think that would apply to Ruiz? 14games-27PAs.  That much longer waiting for his call up if a no go on Frelick.

DFA both Taylor and Davis and mix in the 2(Frelick-Ruiz)for a CF battle preview for 2023. They provide a spark at the worst position win. They flop well youre already headed for early vacation when season ends.

If Frelick is still ahead of Mitchell in AAA OPS after 20 game sample vs Mitchell's 19game sample that makes Frelick still hotter?  Maybe your excitement is Mitchell hitting a HR finally so he's "hotter"

Both of these guys have an OPS over .900 the last 90 days.  By hotter, he might be looking at the last week where Frelick has cooled a bit (.750 OPS) while Mitchell posted an OPS over 1.000. Regardless, it is a small sample and both guys have been on fire.

I've seen multiple posters suggesting to DFA Tyrone Taylor. That would really surprise me. I am far from his biggest fan, but he is an above average 4/5 OF and certainly not a DFA candidate IMO..

+1... He's very serviceable as a backup but he's not starting caliber.

Agree. At no point Through this whole Frelick thing was I thinking Taylor would be DFA'd.

People are mentioning Mitchell. Actually right now all four of the N'Ville OFs are doing well as Weimer appears to be starting to settle in. I know everyone always says this, but this could be one very, very interesting offseason. Lotsa decisions.

Frelick, sure why not. Ruiz, ehh...

Ruiz now up to .403 OBP, .420 Slugging, 8 SB, 4 CS and batting .333 overall in Nashville after a great past 10 days.

Glad to see he is settling in and carrying over somewhat of a breakout season. Still most useful as a gadget speed tool player off the bench as a MLBer, but finding a way to get on base where he's dangerous.

An ok 4th or 5th outfielder is fine if there weren't four outfielders (five counting Turang) in AAA with far more upside and little downside risk of being worse, given they all have speed and decent to better than decent defense.

I'd DFA Taylor and Davis and get two of them up.

He does bring speed and on base potential, but he's actually poor defensively at any position. He doesn't have a ton of experience in the OF, so he could improve, but he's not there yet.

He is definitely the fourth best outfielder of the four AAA outfield prospects.  To be fair the other three are pretty incredible though. I think you are spot on by pointing out Ruiz's inexperience, I believe he will get better.

Assuming a CF prospect is brought up, McCutcheon will get any starts in the corners when Yelich and Renfroe aren’t out there, so the 5th OF is not going to see much time. No sense accruing service time on a prospect in that role.

Bring a prospect up to start, DFA Davis, and hold onto Taylor. This off-season, Stearns can sort out who he’s going to keep and who he’s going to trade to put together the ‘23 OF.

I really cannot believe that we are not bringing up Frelick. Kind of like not playing Hiura for a month after he even hit well. Just basic decisions that are costing us. We are in need of a spark and only a few options are left this season for us. Frelick is the obvious choice.

The only saving grace is that we still can bring him up Sept. 1.
