Alumni Power 10

I would like to see a permanent thread or link of an occasionally updated "Alumni Power 10" list.

I appreciate the alumni thread, and the links to check up on x-brewers and farmhands. however, i wonder about how the "prospects" that we've given up are faring- if we should have/shouldn't have given them up and if any would be rated on your Power 50 if still in the system.

so for only example- even though some of these players may not qualify- something like this.

Alumini Power 10 -- [P50]

1. Nelson Cruz- OF -- [1]

2. Dana Eveland- SP -- [7]

3. Ben Hendrickson- SP -- [15]

4. David Krynzel- OF -- [21]

5. Jorge De la Rosa- SP -- [23]

6. Ty Taubenheim- SP -- [29]

7. Enrique Cruz- 3B -- [37]

8. Matt Childers- RP -- [49]

9. Kennard Bibbs- OF

10. Joe Valentine- RP

This would be another tool to help us gauge the improvement or depletion of our farm system.

an interesting idea, but the brewers almost never give up any true prospects...all of those guys are either bordering on too old for the power 50, or have played too much in the majors...the brewers just ahvent traded many minor leaguers over the years...it's been guys like cruz, krynzel, and hendrickson who seemed like toss ins because there was no room, or they were out of options...

out of your list, i'm not sure anyone would rank on the power 50...

When I read the title for this thread the light bulb went off and I thought that sounded like a great idea. As Pogo has said, the Brewers have been quite tight fisted with the prospects up to this point. But hopefully with our contender status changing, we may start trading a few guys to make a push sometime.

Maybe we could loosen the rules a bit on the "Alumni Power 10-20" just to have a better list.

And if they'd be eligable, I'd have to think Taubenheim & Eveland would be on the Power 50.

Nice idea Crash.

thanks guys. you are right, there would be some things to work out. especially as you mentioned, from the dearth of legitimate prospects we've sent away. However, regardless if the prospect criteria is expanded, which could be a solution, it would still be interesting to rate the top alumni players on a prospect level. The power 50 would be used to have a basis of relativity to how they actually rank in relation to a prospect list. anyway, i appreciate you looking at it, and as always, thanks for Brewerfan.
