He came into the 19-2 game late fully 24 hours after the ball hit him and looked fine yaking it up at first after singling off the position player.  I get that symptoms can develop later but this is concerning.  They do need his bat down in the order.

We need another CF … I’ve seen plenty of Davis … after the “spectacular” play of the week, he misplayed the inside the park HR ball & missed another the next day … since he can’t hit better than Cain, his glove has to be exceptional … we are once again limping along by playing infielders in the OF - not wise

he was 30 when he got called up. I didn't expect much from him rather than a warm body until the acquired one. I wouldn't worry about it. He will be gone by months end.

Good news that Taylor was cleared. I'm sure that when Cain was let go, the plan was for Taylor to be the everyday CF to see how he does in an everyday role. Davis was just a guy brought up because you need a backup for every position on the field, and no one else was a suitable backup CF. He is not expected to get many PAs when the team is healthy. Taylor is a clear upgrade over Davis or the ghost of Cain that was on the field earlier this season.

The big question for CF is whether they will need an upgrade over Taylor. He'll get a couple of weeks to continue to try to prove himself. Halfway through the season (much of which he was on the bench or injured) he is posting a 0.8 WAR, which isn't terrible. He has a .228/.277/.423/.700 line, for a wRC+ of 93. He does play CF, where you can get away with a little less offense if you play good defense, and he has a 5.3 UZR/150 as a CF this season, and a 6.0 for his career. He actually has played better both this year and in his career at CF than he has at RF.

He doesn't seem to be a guy we absolutely need to replace, but he's a guy who is replaceable if a clear upgrade is available. He does provide value as a 4th OF if Stearns finds a CF "rental", and if that happens Davis would be the obvious choice to get sent packing.

"The most successful (people) know that performance over the long haul is what counts. If you can seize the day, great. But never forget that there are days yet to come."

Be nice to have him back but I think he's more suited to a fourth outfielder role. He's fine for an average offense but he'd be a heavily used 4th on good ones.

On a totally irrelevant note The Ghost of Cain sounds like a great movie title.

There needs to be a King Thames version of the bible.

Taylor and Davis are, IMO, complementary. Davis is an OBP/speed guy, while Taylor has a lot of power and his defense is very good. They're also both quite cheap.

CF is not a huge concern for me. Just getting better offensive production from the guys we have is a bigger concern.
