No more football talk here at all?!

I saw someone wanted to talk about Brett Favre and now it automatically got locked.

Since when does "Off Topic" mean no football?

I think that it has been made clear by many here that they would like to talk about football on occasion and not want to register for that site (myself included).

I think you guys are taking your Lambeau Leap site a little too far and serious.

The problem is, that the "many here" that have "made things clear" are not the powers that be.

I really do not understand the resistance to registering on LL. If you can't take a minute to register there, then how important is it to post your thoughts?

It's really transformed into a nice site. I am thankful that the powers that be have taken it so serious and have made such a nice site.

I am not a huge Packer fan, but I am a huge Badger fan, and I am a huge fan of the dudes on this site.

I wish you had the short-hairs to bring your Rex Grossman love to that site, as it would make for some interesting discussions. If you want to talk about the Bears, I am pretty sure you already belong to forums to do so, --- if you want to just rub it into Packer fans on a baseball site, why not man up, and do it at an actual Packer site.

while i'm registered over at LL....and I respect the efforts it took to make that site. i do see his point...pretty much everything goes in the off topic fourm except for football, which is an off topic subject from MLB discussions. and IMO it should be allowed...but on this subject my opinion doesn't account for much, so I'll just talk football on LL

I understand the extra effort involved, and apologize for it. In the future, we plan on bridging the two sites together... In short, the football forums will be available via the same login as your brewerfan login, and vice versa.

I'm sorry that it's not intuitive right now, but we'd like to off-load traffic over there to:

a) Keep site costs down

b) Not "waste" conversation be either having people re-posting or missing out on what someone's saying over here.

Whoever signs up for LambeauLeap.net, I will in exchange fold 45 seconds worth of your laundry.

Is that retroactive to last fall? http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

i'm only slightly frustrated that football talk isn't here anymore. I think LambeauLeap is a good site, but I read bf.net primarily at work, and for everything else it has been a great one-stop shop for all news and talk. It allows me to read, maybe post, then exit in a short amount of time. so far no calls from IT.

also, since football's not as big a deal for me, there's often only one issue I might be interested in, so that extra 45 seconds is a lot, and Packer talk in the off-topic section was very convenient.

but in the end, since it's a cost-saver to have LL.net, and I'm not the one paying for the site, I am learning to accept no Packer talk on brewerfan. I suppose once the football season starts maybe I'll be more interested in logging on to LL.net.

Ya know in my day you had to walk 29 miles, barefoot, through the snow, uphill both ways, carrying your little brothers and sisters to get to Lambeau Leap.net, now it's mash a few buttons. Man, how times have changed.

how about a couple of analogies?

Hardies and McDonalds are located right next to each other. hardies is the new burger joint in town. I've been to a hardies before. i know what their food tastes like. it only takes me one minute more to go to hardies.

but i prefer going ot Mc Donalds. I like their menu and their service. Don't try to force me to go to hardies and eat their food just because they are the new web site in town. I took a look, and I prefer McDonalds.

Signing up for the lambaue leap is kind of like going to best Buy and having the clerk ask you if you want to also sign up for their frequent buyer card. i don't want to take the time to sign up for their card. I admit it would only take a minute to do so. and it annoys the heck out out of me everytime i go to best Buy that the clerk asks me if i want to sign up for their card. yes , i'd get valuable coupons that i'll never use if I sign up. Every time we have a football post on brewerfan, and somebody says you should go to lambeau leap reminds me of that annoying best buy clerk.

last analogy. Smoking kills. Don't do drugs. Wear a helmet if you ride a motorcycle. Wear a seat belt. Ruffles and beer will make you fat. chocolate will give you zits. Sit up straight. don't slouch. exercise more and eat more fiber. Rules rules rules. locking football threads and forcing people to talk football at lambaue lep is like your wife and/or mother forcing you to go on a diet! yes mother, if you say we must go to lambeau leap to talk football or be grounded for life, i guess we'll have to go to lambaeu leap to talk football.

However, the reality is that most of us will be rebel and go out of our way not to do what we are ordered to do even when we know it's in our best interest to do so! it's the American Way.

That's fine, of course. Because who'd want to respect what the owner of the site has to say?

That Brian guy, what has he done for us? I mean, most people who come here don't get anything out of the site anyways.

Stupid BF.net.
