Just curious: who can we expect to see on those two AZL rosters tonight?  With so many of our young teenage prospects already moved up to Carolina, will there be many guys in AZ that will be worth keeping tabs on?  In looking at MLB Pipeline's preseason Top 30 rankings, it looks like Logan Henderson is the only guy on that list that appears might be getting his start in AZ this year.  But, just wondering if there are other intriguing prospects we should keep our eye on down there?

Kevin Briceno and Jesael Cabrera each complete four full innings of near identical results: 4 hits and one run apiece. 6 k's and 4 k's, respectively. The bats only muster three knocks and the DSL Brewers 1 fall to the tune of 2-0.

The DSL Brewers 2 squad managed to plate 5 runs in the bottom-half of the fifth to knot the score at 5 apiece. It's 5-5 headed to the bottom of the 6th now. 2 rbi's apiece for 3B Juan Baez and 1B Yeison Perez. (Baez is 16 yo, btw. Wowsers)

Check out Daniel's fine work and compilation efforts in Sunday's report - it gives a detailed list of all the DSL promotions there. These young men would be worth tracking. But, I would be remiss if I didn't say: All our prospects are worth supporting and monitoring. And, there's my 'I'm a Dad' moment for you?

You’ve got last year’s over-slot high school picks (Vire, Low, Avina), guys who skipped the DSL in the COVID season aftermath and struggled in the ACL (Medina, Herrera, a couple infielders), and a few players who were competing with Cruz for the title of best pitcher on the DSL rosters (Mejia and Vallecillo). There are also a couple higher priced infield signings (Barrios, Guilarte), and several bounce back or sleeper candidates (Fernandez, Colina, etc.). No top prospects now, but enough intriguing prospects to think a few might reach that level in the future.

Personally, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Quinton Low and Jace Avina do. Low got a taste of the complex league last year and did quite well in 20 some AB's. Daniel Guilarte, Gregory Barrios are two international signings who were ranked by a couple outlets. Both will be 18 for the whole season. Luis Medina was a pretty big name when he signed in the Hedbert Perez/Jeferson Quero class, but has struggled a bit so far.

On the pitching side, a personal favorite of mine is Yujanyer Herrera, though he definitely will need to cut down on his walks. He's flashed a nasty changeup in some video I've seen and velo in the 90-93 range. Yorman Galindez was described as a "strike thrower" with a fastball up to 94 and feel for a curveball. He was signed in the latest international class, but is 19 years old. Caden Vire was another of the high school picks in the later rounds last year with a super projectable body and arm. Hoping he's put on some good weight in the last year and can get off to a good start in pro ball!

There are more, but those are the ones that stood out to me at first glance.

Several super-young infielders to watch in the Arizona Complex League in Ney Serrano (decent in DSL), Gregory Barrios (big bonus, struggled in DSL), Jadher Areinamo (solid in DSL), Jonatan Guzman (yet to debut) and Daniel Guilarte (big bonus, yet to debut), plus Luis Castillo (struggled a bit in DSL) in the outfield. All of these guys will remain 18 throughout this season.

Here's a random highlight from DSL's 2021 preseason, which we hope to see much of in ACL 2022:

Luis Castillo did play last season in the DSL. He is interesting. He didn't have the best stats, but the Brewers liked him enough to give him a minor league spring training invite (and now stateside roster spot) over a couple of guys who had superior stat lines. It seemed one of the bigger issues was a lack of power, well, until tonight that is.
