No, it is lifetime healthcare for one day of service, which is usually a great benefit. However, may not be as good for Hall since he is Australian and used to being entitled to medical care.

I'm not sure about that, at least not in the sense that you get "free" healthcare for life. (Nor does it seem likely that the MLBPA would negotiate for such an exorbitant and expensive benefit given the number of cups of coffee there are every year.)

There’s a popular misconception that any professional baseball player who spends even one day on a major league roster will receive free health care for life. In reality, that’s not true. Instead, what one day of service gives you is the right to buy into a healthcare plan, which isn’t really the same as free, comprehensive coverage. A player’s eligibility for health and pension benefits is tiered, and depends on how much time the player spent on a major league roster, how much service time he accrued, and can even be a matter of which years he played, as different benefits are available to different eras of players. Different plans carry different co-pays and have varying coverage maximums.

As a COVID replacement isn't he not on the 40 man and can be sent back with no issues?

as stated on the initial post, a player can only bypass outright waivers if there are at least three players on the covid-19 injured list.

when a player is placed on the covid-19 injured list, it's like being placed on the 60-day injured list, in that in removes that player from the 40-man roster. and when a replacement player is added, he's added to the 40-man roster.

you may recall last season when blaine hardy had his contract selected during a covid outbreak. when the brewers decided to cut him, they simply returned him to the minors (and removed him from the 40-man) without outright waivers.

Excellent day for him. Limo down to Milwaukee, official major league uniform, major league clubhouse buffet, and $5,000 in his pocket for watching the game from the dugout.

Plus he is 1-for-1 in walkoff celebrations. Even if he never sniffs the show again, he’s got a great story for the rest of his life.

I don't think you get any major benefits from one day of service time, unfortunately. (Other than the one day of MLB pay!)

if alex hall happens to test positive for covid-19 while he waits out the seven-day dfa period, the designation is voided and he continues to earn major league service time and pay on the covid-19 injured list.

no word if hall made a beeline for the home of omar narvaez and asked him to cough on him repeatedly.
