Paul Goldschmidt is coming off three straight days of hitting home runs against the Brewers. Among Goldschmidt’s 18 career at bats versus Corbin Burnes, 15 of them have ended in either a hit (8) or strikeout (7). Depending on how the game plays out it might not be the worst day to pitch around Goldy.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

I just realized I have been misspelling Lars Nootbaar.  He still sounds like something you should put in your pack before you go on a long hike.  "Hey, Dave, did you bring the Lars Nootbaars? I hope you got the peanut butter ones."

OK. Sorry. No more!

Nothing says we need Adames and Renfroe back soon than another day of Cutch hitting cleanup against a righty.

I might be mistaken but I think he was hitting 4th against righties with both of them in the lineup.

Rarely do I get frustrated with Counsell, but his insistence on starting McCutchen over Hiura against RHP despite all the statistical and anecdotal evidence is just ridiculous.

On the bright side, Arenado is out of the lineup today. While he’s actually been quite cold recently, he is still incredibly scary, especially when hitting after Goldschmidt, who is hitting like prime Barry Bonds right now. Plus, with the absence of his glove at third, maybe McCutchen will hit into one less DP today.

I agree.  Im a fan of Counsell.  But McCutchen hasnt hit righties for over 3 years now.  There is nothing, nothing you can point to that says he should hit 4th against a righty.  He shouldnt even be playing, but even if he was, statistically hes at the bottom of the order.  Its not even that hes had past success for Counsell.   I dint get it.  I try not to blame coaches too much, but in this instance McCutchen's failures from here on out against righties is squarely on Counsell.  Has he even been asked by anyone in the media about this continued inexplicable decision?

Hiura has been my favorite player since he arrived. Constantly cheered him on through his struggles. I feel like his best bet for success is to get traded. It's got to be so frustrating to be (so far this year) the best hitter on the team, and still struggle for playing time.

starting Cain, and McCutchen over him is a crime today…. :(

I would enjoy seeing what Hiura could do for a few games as a DH against a RH pitcher … it does not appear that Cutch is the answer

I’d love to see Turang up here , let McCutchen bat vs Lefties only…. Huira DH vs R.
Cain can be a defensive replacement til they decide what to do with him.
Have to shake something up here because it’s not even a matter of bad luck it’s just the lack of good contact - can’t do anything if you don’t put good wood on it. And Jace playing so much drives me nuts too…

Not sure what Craig is doing this year but I feel we could be much better with some better decisions on the lineup alone. Idk.

Keston in the outfield?  He should be the DH instead of Yeli today.

I would rather Keston be riding the pine than playing in the OF

Only in an emergency or a complete blowout game would I be able to stomach him in the OF

Oh no no, just lineup wise - Huira belongs at DH. However the defense aligns , but Cain and McCutchen should not both be in over Huira.
