I don't think I will ever get tired of seeing game threads day after day where our starting pitcher always makes me feel like it should be a competitive game or a big advantage for us.

Tonight would be a good one to get to start off the series on the right foot. Just look at our hitters' previous history against Wainwright. image.png.957e5bdd4c3280c7d17830df0e1f5992.png

Assuming Ace Lauer makes his scheduled appearance tonight, we should be in good shape to pull this one out.

I feel a little better about the bullpen with Hader reactivated (don't want to speculate about his mental state, but it's hard not to think of that as a possible x-factor). With Williams having gone 3 straight days and Box 2 out of 3 including yesterday (as well as Perdomo yesterday), the "other guys" might be needed in higher-leverage-than-they're-used-to situations. Twould be great for the offense to help out a bit,

Make Wainwright Wainwrong!  Hit the ball long!  Let's start with Wong!

Starting with Urias is OK.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

If a 40 year old Wainwright is your #1 starter and you view yourselves as a legitimate contender, that's a problem. Good thing they have Goldschmidt and Arenado.

I think mikolas and Hudson slot in ahead of wainright

I wouldn't say that when Wainwright was their starter in the wildcard game last year and their opening day starter this year. And the point would still remain if either of those two were actually #1. Definitely not Scherzer, Burnes, Fried types.

I think Jordan Hicks would also fit in above Wainwright. I would say Wainwright would be their number 4 starter this year.

I would say no, when the guy has an ERA above 5 the last two years and is only now making his first starts in the major leagues. Wainwright is #1, only surpassed by Flaherty, but he hasn't been healthy for almost a year now.
