I tend to be in bed before 8 anyway, since I go to work early.  Since I'm done by 3:15, I can see nearly all of it.

I'm taking Friday off too this week.

Questions are a burden.   And answers a prison for one's self.

With Ashby's heavy ground ball and strikeout profile, I would've thought that they might be able to get away with playing McCutchen in RF and allowing Hiura to DH. Oh well, maybe Cain will finally hit his first HR of the season, today. He has to at some point, right?

Also, I see that every Padre will be facing Ashby for the first time today. Given Ashby's unorthodox pitching style and overall nastiness, that should hopefully work in our favor, so long as he can find the plate.

If the Brewers fall behind early this could turn into a day where someone in the bullpen will be asked to "take one for the team".

With the heavy bullpen usage the last few days, and Hader's return for the Cardinal series in question, I can't see Counsell wanting to use too many relievers trying to salvage a game if the Brewers are 4 or 5 runs behind in the middle innings.

Really need 5 solid innings from Ashby and then see where they are.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Is there any stat out there that justifies McCutchen hitting fourth againt a righty?  Serious question, not rhetorical.  As in anything that makes him a better option over Brosseau or Huira, and/or not being at the bottom of the lineup.

Probably just more going with the veteran than a current stat.

I don’t know if he would of gotten 2 with a clean catch, but I’m pretty sure Wong isn’t getting his 3rd gold glove this year.

That was close to a bobble that wasn’t on the exchange but throwing before catching.

Maybe it’s just me, perhaps my eye test has failed me, but his D has been disappointing this year in general.

No. It has been. And the stats bear it out, too. Obviously, he has a long track record of stellar defense, so you just have to hope it'll revert to his career norm at some point.

Can Turang play 2nd well? Not so much for this year, but Wong's bat plays well with the generally above average defense. If that doesn't return you have to wonder if it's the first sign of decline and there's is that chance for a cheap and effective internal replacement next year.

Yes. That would definitely be an option. Urias' best position is also probably second, too. So some flexibility for sure.

Missed strike three call leads to a leadoff walk. What else is new....AND THEN TRIES TO GET ASHBY INJURED...

What are you talking about? The batter calling for the late time out.

No, the ump granting it to him when Ashby was in the process of starting his delivery, leading him to pull back a bit. In addition to the missed strike three call on 2-2 the previous batter.
