Hmm, this might work as well. Okay, I'm going to change things up a bit on this but I'm not sure when I'll get to it.

This is the @Brock BeauchampI've come to know and love. Always receptive to feedback. Always considerate. Is there a better front man for a 'website takeover'? I want to party with you, Cowboy!

It’s pretty tough to rank guys this season, or tough to get excited about it I guess. Very disappointing year so far for a farm system I was hoping would make a leap.

This is the most excited I’ve been about the system in the last 5 years. Ultimately a good farm system really only needs to produce a small handful of major leaguers, and just a couple of which are true impact talent. I am feeling pretty good that this system has that in it’s current state. There’s a wave of good players at Double-A and Triple-A, but I’m really excited for the teenagers currently making up the Carolina crew. I think that crop of young players has a chance to help provide as impactful a wave of future major league talent as we’ve seen for the Brewers since the mid-2000s.

I'll climb aboard this 'Train of Reason'. As a closet-obsessive of the Brewers Minor League system for years - riding the fine work of Jim over that time and doing my own dilly-dally therein - it's hard not to be extremely extremely excited about the current state of the lower levels as well as the possible future growth given the recent hyper-activity and possible successes in the international signing period. I can say, today, our Top 20 is legitimately really good - filled with boom or bust possibilities throughout. These are prospects, mind you. Not a single one of us knows how these hard-working and committed athletes are going to fare once they face the best in the world. That's just a silly proposition to think we do. BUT, we absolutely have a foundation here that has a chance. And, as far as I'm concerned, that's really all we can ask for.

Let's go a step further:

How can you not be excited about the Minor League free agency signing period after what we just witnessed in late 2021? I mean, they struck Minor League GOLD in that late period of free agency. Let's factor in a clear familiarity and ability to scout Indy League talent.

Perhaps, @Yolk, I'll throw this in your court (and, I absolutely don't mean this in a critical way): Maybe you aren't up-to-date as to how our current 2022 Minor League year is progressing? We have been Top 5 overall Wins/Losses almost all season.

Here’s one stat that I think sort of illustrates how high the organization is on their young players…

Since the beginning of the David Stearns era (2016-present) the Brewers have given 100+ plate appearances in affiliated ball to just 14 teenagers total. Six of those 14 teenagers are on this season’s team in Carolina (Chourio, Mendez, Garcia, Vargas, Quero, Perez), so nearly half of all such instances are current Mudcats. Prior to this year it was Turang, Grisham, Lutz, Ward, Feliciano, Abreu, Castillo, and Lara that were given affiliated ball playing time as teenagers.

Some of it may be due to the reorganization of the minors, but I think it’s clear they also believe in pushing this group of young players.

Another way to look at it is the Brewers currently roster 1/4th of the teenage hitters (6 of 24) getting regular playing time in the 12- team Carolina League this year.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Ha.....I'm glad to see all of these posts, as I literally couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Yolk's message at the top of this page!  Have there been a few disappointments from guys in our system so far this year that we maybe had hoped for bigger things?  Sure.  But, there have also been plenty of great storylines thus far as well.  In fact, I think you could make a solid argument that we might have the very BEST storyline thus far this minor league season in Jackson Chourio.  Folks, this guy is LEGIT!

Also, Baseball America just put 4 of our prospects in their Top 100, which I think is the first time we've seen this since before the 2018 season (or maybe at the end of the '17 season?).

I think there is a lot to be excited about right now in our farm system, and I'm looking forward to seeing how we add to it next month with the '22 Draft!

I think it's perfectly reasonable to have held off this time around a bit on Chourio. The level of helium is pretty unprecedented, but getting too wrapped up in some tools and early season performance isn't. Or if you prefer Chourio is who we all thought Christian Guerreo was.
