Once a month during the season might be a little aggressive, think a yearly schedule of pre-season, pre-draft/deadline, post-draft/deadline and then offseason is probably enough to capture the ebbs & flows.

But if someone wants to count the votes every month I’ll show up at the polls.

Just post our lists here?

Yeah, once a month might be too aggressive and if that turns out to be the case, we'll pivot.

Yep, just post your lists here!

List your top 20 in your preferred order.

Self-indulgent prelude:

This is probably an overreaction, but I remember when the Brewers brass seemed positively giddy about the alternate site performance of their next great pitching prospect. Before Ashby's rise. Before Small showed he could miss upper-level bats. Before the injury. If that guy is truly back ...

I don't think I'm up for the whole top 20 just yet, but I will say that while a high ceiling is important, guys with good tools/ pedigree and performance who are performing at AA and AAA will always edge out lower levels guys like Chourio. Don't get me wrong he is way up there for me, but Weimer, Small, and Turang are all doing more than enough at high levels to be duking it out on top for me.

The top 10 is pretty interesting and seems to have some future MLB contributors. After that, it seems to go downhill pretty quickly. Hopefully we will have a quality draft and add a little more pitching to the system.

I will say ONE thing, and really only ONE thing about 2022: We are discovering the Brew Crew’s Minor League system was vastly underrated heading into 2022. For reference: Before we took three of five Sunday, we had the fourth best Organizational MILB record. That’s a significant mark.

I honestly feel like I could make various Top 20’s. My ‘off the top of my head’ Top 20 prospects, in absolutely no way really speaks to ‘TOP 20 Call-Up Candidates’. I continue to be utterly amazed at the work that was done in the 2021 Free Agent class. We essentially grabbed a heaping basket full of AAAA players that could very easily play spot duty in Milwaukee. The Sounds are loaded with Major League talent. What impresses me the most about the Sounds is they always play hard. Their pitching is obviously incredible. Their defense, even with Infielders having to rotate into the outfield, is stellar. They are disciplined. They work at bats. But, they just always play hard. You don’t always see that in Triple-A. The organization as a whole is just in such a fantastic place. I can’t wait for another draft!

My top 20 list would be more-or-less a derivative of what others have posted. But I just wanted to second the above. Character has always been a priority in this regime, and it seems like they've done a superb job with the "AAAA" guys. It's nice to not have to force feed a prospect, and while we all hope the injury bug doesn't bite hard it feels good to have a Mathias or a Dahl to help fill the gaps if needed. Picking up Kelley already reaped a benefit.

Broke my list into rough tiers with a little commentary on each…

01 Joey Wiemer

02 Ethan Small

03 Brice Turang

(Wiemer is a beast, K% only concern. Small & Turang on the precipice of MLB)

04 Jackson Chourio

05 Garrett Mitchell

06 Sal Frelick

(Chourio off to a blazing start, but still a long ways to go. Mitchell/Frelick struggling at AA, but plenty of season left to get it going)

07 Antoine Kelly

08 Felix Valerio

09 Tyler Black

10 Hendry Mendez

(Antoine is prolly the highest upside arm in the system. Felix, Tyler & Hendry posting impressive BB/K ratios for young hitters)

11 Jeferson Quero

12 Eduardo Garcia

13 Hedbert Perez

14 Joe Gray Jr.

15 Zavier Warren

16 Mario Feliciano

17 Freddy Zamora

(Feliciano off to an encouraging start after a lost season, JGJ & Zavier heating up a little of late, gonna be a long season with lots of ups & downs for the Carolina teenage trio at the top, but I still believe, and Freddy’s going to need another strong second half to salvage his spot)

18 Stiven Cruz

19 Carlos Rodriguez PITCHER

20 Michele Vassalotti

(Last three spots were the toughest, but decided to give the young arms with the lights out K/BB ratios the votes.)

Y'all, after covering the Twins minor leagues and prospects for the last 19 years, it has been so much fun to get to know and follow a second organization. I really look forward to seeing trends and comparing the organizations. Having now watched some games/video, read reports, talked to some people in the organization, I am excited to put together my first Brewers Top 20 Prospects ranking... subject to change semi-often as I learn more and watch more.
