they just have to beat bad teams that a sign of o good Ball Club.

It is getting quite tiring to keep having  the “are we a good team” conversation every time we lose a freaking game. Just look at last year’s results, our results so far this year, and the projection sites. The answer is unequivocally, “yes”.

Totally agree what they want us to do you play the teams on your schedule.

I never said they were equivalent with or better than the dodgers. The dodgers obviously hover above everyone else in the NL right now, as they have for several years now. But the Brewers were the third best team in the league last year, and have played at or above that level to start the year. Everyone else has either played below that level (Giants, Braves) or has serious injury/age concerns (Mets/Cardinals). Regardless of their weak schedule, the Brewers have been doing exactly what very good teams do with such a schedule.

As for the Cardinals, I have watched a lot of their games this year. Arenado and Goldschmidt are amazing, and Edman has been great to start the year, but literally every other part of their roster is a question mark right now. The bottom of their order has been abysmal. Now, their rookies (Donovan, Yepez) have help stabilize things somewhat, but their current production, which is at a near all star level, is not in accordance with their prospect pedigree. And yes, they are reliant on their 40 year olds. Molina remains their primary catcher, Wainwright is their “ace”, and Pujols is playing almost every day as their DH, even filling in at 1B on occasion. They may make the playoffs just because they are the Cardinals, but they are not at our level, nor are they in the upper class of the NL.

I don’t think you understand or appreciate how much our pitching (assuming Peralta is not out for long) gives us a leg up on everyone else with the exception of the Dodgers and Mets (when/if healthy).

You don’t seem to be too tolerant of people who don’t share your opinions and evaluations.

Rather than telling me I don’t understand or appreciate something, better to just accept that we disagree.

The Brewers have their question marks too, and if their leg up is dependent on having no significant injuries all season, it isn’t really a leg up. Every team is going to have injuries.

For all of their flaws I believe the Cardinals have scored more runs and allowed fewer than the Brewers so far. So, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to consider them to be right in the Brewers class.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Maybe it would be a good idea not to feel obligated to respond every time somebody makes a post that doesn’t agree with your outlook.

I really don’t care. You can hold whatever opinion you want. But I will call it out when I believe it is wrong or misplaced and you volunteer it on this site. This is an internet message board, where questioning other people’s opinions is allowed. You responded to my opinion, and I defended it and tried to explain why I think you’re wrong.

What is completely ridiculous, however, is how the “are we a good team” conversation is initiated by the same few people every time we are trailing in a game. Just look at last year’s results, the results to start this year, and the projection sites. That will give you your answer.

Of course, the Brewers have their questions. But theirs are less than pretty much every other team in the NL with the exception of the Dodgers. And if you don’t believe the Brewers’ pitching gives them a leg up on the competition, then I don’t know what to say.

I could say the same to you. You responded to me, after all….

I never really understood fans that had to prove to themselves and other fans that their team was the best ( or top 3 teams) after only 25% of the season has been completed. We only have 120 some games to go. I always was one to enjoy the ride.  What I like about baseball is almost always the best teams rise to the top by game 162.

It’s convenient that you bring up the run differential argument today, after the Cardinals blow out the Pirates 18-4, as opposed to last night, when we were ahead of them. And I thought beating up on the pirates doesn’t say anything about a team’s overall quality…

You pointed to the projection sites to note that the Brewers have played one of the weakest schedules in the majors. However, those same projection sites also have the Brewers winning between 92-96 games and the Cardinals around 84-86. Seems like a difference in class to me.

I know from past exchanges with you, including some in the past under your previous screen name, that this is heading down a rat hole. So, I’ll bow out.

My previous screen name? This is literally the only one I’ve ever had, as I just joined in April after having been a long time lurker.  If you’re going to make accusations, at least make them correct. And I will remind you that you responded to one of my opinions today and tried to tell me how I’m wrong, not the other way around.
