Today will be a good test to see if the Demons of the Weekend 10 Pack that haunted us last year have really been exorcised.

Last year there were several times that the 10 pack included the only game the Brewers lost in a series. This year we went to the Saturday game against the Cubs, a comfortable 9-1 win, but the Brewers were shut out on Sunday, making me think the Demons might have thought that was our game.

The pitching matchup looks favorable for the Brewers today, but the Demons have been able to overcome that in the past.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

Peralta did a nice job keeping his composure after the first Brosseau mistake. Thank goodness Wong saved Brosseau from his second throwing blunder being costly.

Not just “at Night” anymore.

Gross. Brosseau shouldn't be playing short. Call up Turang. One inning of experience in the big leagues?! Definitely shows.

Good grief … play Urius until Adames returns (it’s only 10 days - hopefully) - even Urius is a subpar MLB SS

Brosseau is an okay 2B & 3B … Mathias in Nashville would be a better “emergency” SS … Turang would be an exceptional choice!

Playing Brosseau at SS - unless there is an injury to Urius - is unacceptable

He is not an MLB caliber SS

How can an average fan know this & a major league manager - Counsell - not know this?

Two innings in a row having Brosseau at SS has cost the Brewers. This time it leads to runs and additional pitches for Freddy who already has a high pitch count.

Geez. How many outs is Brosseau gonna cost us today.

He already has 4 errors this season … & he is a part-timer

His bat is okay & he is capable of playing several positions, but Mathias & Turang are much better defensively

This is why you can't just look at a guy who's played a handful of games in his minor league career at a position (or however many number) and plug him into the major league roster at that position.  No matter how starved for offense you might be at a certain position, defense still matters, and quite a bit.

Agree that having Brosseau uncomfortably try to play shortstop is a huge mistake. I wonder if Urias is indeed injured?

Doubt it. If it was, there would have been a roster move before the game. On the broadcast, they explained how this is Urias' first day off since coming off the IL. Counsell probably wanted to do so against the Nationals, as opposed to the Padres or Cardinals.

Yep. He deserves it. Maybe Cain could go on the IL for a while?

If you IL Cain, you leave only Taylor on the team for CF's.  Turang has only played 5 games in CF.  Brosseau is displaying today why we don't want guys playing out of position.

I would swap Brosseau for Turang … & possibly add Dahl in lieu of Cain

I think you’re probably right, but I noticed Brice Turang is out of the lineup in Nashville today and I was on the verge of going full conspiracy theory. Probably just a coincidence, but they certainly could’ve used him in Milwaukee today.

That being said, I do realize you probably don’t want to put a guy on the 40-man roster just to help cover one game, especially when your primary shortstop is expected back by the end of the week.

Either that or send down Brosseau. Cain is so bad right now on offense that his defense barely makes it worth having him on the roster.

Cain's offense is beyond putrid.  Nobody is trying to argue different.  He's got a 0.4 Bref dWar.  He's at a 0.0 WAR right now, so he's a replacement level player.  He shouldn't be playing every day, but he's got some utility if he's used properly.  Also, because we don't have another CF on the roster (or even the entire franchise) who's likely to hit until Taylor figures things out, Cain's defense means we're kinda stuck with what we have until a trade is made.

SS, 2B, CF are positions that we really shouldn't be seeing guys come up and learn on the fly.  I'm glad Stearns is a GM who places higher value than the previous regime on defense.  I don't ever want to see a high-value game with someone like Mark Kotsay in CF, literally ever again.

How far out of the base path was Jace? It didn’t look that far in person.

Rock says he wasn’t out of the baseline and seems shocked he was called out. I personally didn’t think it was an egregiously bad call, he was definitely on the grass.
