I had very little feeling that we'd be coming out on top throughout most of this game. And I'm one of the more optimistic ones!

Ditto ... this game had all the markings of one of those random get-away day games where they go down early, and just play out the string in a boring afternoon. It ended up being anything but.

My first thought was that he'd come up and come through with the bases loaded and 2 out in the 8th.  The order was set up for it although it obviously didn't happen.

Especially when you consider our past history against Fried and in Burnes starts. What a way to win on a day when your ace was off his game!

How do they calculate only 404 feet for that home run?  It's 400 to the wall

Like I said before, I don't see how it makes a difference. All things start equal either with the bases empty or a runner on second.

It makes a difference because runs are more likely to be scored. Now if both teams score it negates the benefit, but the odds are that a game will end sooner with a runner already on second each inning in extras.

What was absolutely beautiful about that Keston game-winning HR is that swing was the exact same swing I saw in his 7rbi game in Jacksonville.

He is clearly in a better place in the batter's box. THIS is why Stearns wanted him back up. He sees the consistency in the swing. He knows his potential. This brings me back to what I've been saying all year long: We have an absurd amount of riches to fill out our roster. We have really good problems going on between Milwaukee and Nashville. I truly don't envy the position of making the calls. Why is Brice Turang still in Nashville? Why is Jonny Davis not getting a call-up? Why can't Mark Mathias get a shot? David Dahl is absolutely crushing it this year. Weston Wilson is a literal utility knife of baseball. What about the lights out performance of Sadzeck. I mean, the list literally goes on. These are hard choices.

His wife is pregnant and was supposed to be due around this time, so I'm guessing that is the family situation. Praying that it is good news.

Let's just hope they didn't consult with Severino on the pregnancy. Am I right or am I right? (Too soon?)?

Alright my friends, I need to go run some laps and do some burpies to prep for tonight's Minor League games. Don't forget: Ethan Small takes the hill for Nashville tonight. In 'Sweetie's' mind Ethan is due for a call up:

Can't believe you were able to fly back from Hawaii over the course of a game. This sure was a long one with a great ending!

Of course I arrived at the Honolulu airport from the resort. That can be done in few innings.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

We're going to need a 6th starter soon, so that hopefully that signals that Small will be assuming that role and that Ashby will be featured mainly in the bullpen.

Oh my bad. I misunderstood your previous post. Still, an exciting experience, and best wishes on a safe return.

Yes, I think ending games earlier in extra innings was the main goal. Front offices didn't like having their bullpens torched in random 14+ inning games.

There's a bit of a statistical technicality that gets created with the runner-on-second thing - if that runner scores, regardless of how, it's considered unearned. That run gets charged to the pitcher who started the inning, but it's not an earned run. For example, the Braves pitcher who gave up the 2-run dinger to Hiura only adds one run to the numerator on his ERA.

Mr. Small was just scratched from today's AAA start, so hopefully he's actually getting his call-up to The Show.

I have to say, going from Ethan Small to Thomas Jankins feels unfair. Let's go Janky!!!!

For those listening on the radio, was Ueck on the call during Hiura's blast?

As it was an extra inning, Jeff Levering called the walkoff today, and did just fine.

Remember: the Brewers never panic like you do.

At least I now know that the Philadelphia Phillies are a better baseball team than the St. Louis Cardinals (I think). What a waste of time……lol.

Stop it. Thanks.
