Going to the game tonight so keep checking back to see if they decided to put Willy on the IL and call up Brice for his MLB debut.

Kinda feel like if that was the plan it would have leaked to the internet somehow by now though.

By GameScore, Freddy's start last night was tied for the 3rd best of his career...

Addition by subtraction. Whatever he was taking, it certainly wasn't enhancing his performance. @Julio Muchacho what can you tell us about Kelley?

First off, I'm very excited for Trevor Kelley. This is a young man (he's still 29 yo until October) who has been a real solid and high quality Triple-A reliever now for 3 years running and he's definitely continued that into this season with the Sounds. He was another of the winter 2021 Minor League FA signings to join the Sounds - by way of the Braves organization if I'm not mistaken tho he was originally a Red Sox prospect and did spend a breath of fresh air in the Phillies system.

Peripherally, I'd also like to say: Tyler Herb got a much deserved promotion to Nashville. He's been fantastic in his shift to a starting role. Congrats are in order.

Trevor has really done all you'd hope for a prospect to do: He rose through the Red Sox ranks methodically and consistently and he's now at that shoe-in high quality Triple-A reliever status. It's now a situation of: 'Can he find any success at the MLB level?" stage of his career. He's only had two small cups of coffee at the MLB level totaling a whopping 11 innings and the results, until now, have not been all that good. BUT, he definitely is worthy of a shot. And, as I say time and again: this jump isn't easy. In Nashville he's essentially pitching to the tune of 12 k/9 with a 43% ground ball rate. He's faced 57 batters over 13 or so innings allowing 4 walks and 10 hits while striking out 17. I imagine what we'll see with Trevor is work trying to ensure he faces righties - he's fairly tough on righties (as we might see) as he has an unusual low slot delivery he gets in an unorthodox manner. You'll see he is definitely more a sidearmer than a submariner but it is a wild pitching motion with some interesting movement and snapback on the arm. It's going to all be about: How comfortable is he at the MLB level in 2022? How comfortable is he now with who he knows he is as a pitcher?

Check out this 2019 write-up on Trevor via his late time with the Red Sox - it's a good read.

I hope Houser has a better outing tonight than the last time.   ?

So you're hoping for the norm and not the exception.  I like the way you think.

but it's not like every guy suddenly forgot every piece of advice he gave
