A win at home against Birmingham today would give AA Biloxi its first series win since April 17th, as RHP Noah Zavolas (4.40 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 in 120 2/3 innings in AA in 2021) makes his long-awaited 2022 debut. Low-A Carolina needs a win today in Fayetteville to split their third consecutive series 3-3, as recently-promoted 20-year old Nicaraguan RHP Stiven Cruz (1.37 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 12.5 K/9 in 52 2/3 innings in the Dominican Summer League in 2021) makes his 2022 and full season affiliate debut. That’s a nice start for Nashville in Jacksonville, with 2-out doubles in the first inning by Weston Wilson (1 RBI) and Pablo Reyes (3 RBIs) staking Bettinger to a 4-0 lead before he throws his first pitch of the day.

Somewhat unsurprisingly (given the rust and relatively heavy traffic in his Bettinger's appearance a week ago), Jacksonville has responded with 4 runs of their own. It's 4-4, still in the bottom of the 2nd inning.

Continuing today's theme, Nashville puts another 4 on the board, this time in the 4th inning, again all with 2 outs: a Tyler White infield single (1 RBI) and a Weston Wilson 3-RBI double. Let's hope that unlocks White from his recent 0-for-27 struggles.

Pablo Reyes is finally being rewarded for excellent contact he's made off his bat all season. It's nice to see two meaningful games of production as his reward.

Back in the line-up today, Joe Gray Jr. just hit his 4th HR of the season - a 2-run jack. I'm sure we'll see that OPS hop above 0.700 again. Atta way, Joe! T-Rats lead 2-0. Knarr continues his fine early-season form.

Noah Zavolas ran into trouble in the top of the 4th. A lead-off single followed by two walks loaded the bases. He managed a strikeout and then was replaced by J.T. Hintzen who gave up a sacrifice fly and it is now 1-1 with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two down.

Fine work by Hintzen to avoid further damage. It is 1-1 Biloxi and Birmingham are tied headed to the bottom half of inning 4.

This week of play has Wiemer Dreamers salivating at an OPS North of 1.000 knowing he's essentially played every single day and worked through ever mini slump. This young man is such a tantalizing prospect...(I may be biased).
