You're going to want to tune into tonights Triple-A match-up. We know what Ethan Small is capable of but this is definitively his first time on the young season where his opposing pitcher has equally tantalizing stuff. Check out these numbers from Marlins coveted prospect, Max Meyer (#33 MLB Pipeline all prospects, #3 Marlins):

The RHP will make his seventh start for Jacksonville and is currently 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA (31.1 IP/6 ER) in 2022.

Meyer currently leads the International League in WHIP (0.86) and ranks among league leaders in opponent batting average (2nd, .159), ERA (3rd, 1.72) and strikeouts (3rd, 39).

You may recall previous imaginative machinations where I somehow landed Jerar Encarnacion to pair with Joey Wiemer in the OF? After Pensacola completed their tilt last night, both Wiemer and Encarnacion are now actually tied atop the OF assist board in the Southern League at six apiece. A man can dream, right? Jerar is having a career year and I will continue to track his season. ?

AAA Nashville is tied 1-1 in their series in Jacksonville, with LHP Ethan Small (1.98 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 12.2 K/9 in 27 1/3 innings) on the mound tonight aiming to bounce back from a rare tough outing. CF/SS Brice Turang is basically unstoppable at this point (3-for-5 yesterday with his 3rd home run; hit safely in 16 of last 17 games):

Low-A Carolina is also tied 1-1 in their series in Fayetteville, with RHP Alexander Cornielle (3.00 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, 8.5 K/9 in 18 innings) starting today and hoping for his first victory of 2022. DH/1B Jesus Chirinos comes in with a 7-game hitting streak though his OPS is still lagging (.550 OPS in 105 plate appearances):

The High-A Timber Rattlers have won 5 games in a row and send RHP Justin Jarvis (6.66 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, 6.7 K/9 in 24 1/3 innings) to the hill to keep the streak alive at Quad Cities. 3B Zavier Warren is having success after starting the season slowly (.880 OPS in last 76 plate appearances).

Note the actual positions: Black - 2B, Peters - DH, Clarke - 1B, Rodriguez - LF, Bello - RF, Hall - C

RHP Justin Bullock returns to AA Biloxi after being sidelined with injury for 5 weeks, as the club tries to take a 2-1 series lead at home against Birmingham. DH/C Brent Diaz has homered in his last 2 games, giving him 4 on the year:

Keston Hiura hit a 3 run bomb in the 3rd inning with two on and two down. This followed Mark Mathias and his solo shot to start the 3rd. It is 4-1 with two down for Small in the bottom-half. He just had a line drive single bounce off his body (he appears ok) and Keston, well, Keston threw an error to advance the man home. He just air-mailed it over Feliciano. A vintage: You get the good with the bad from Keston moment.

It's worth noting, Ethan limited the damage there by inducing a high pop up down the 3B line - Weston Wilson ran it down. He does have 3 hits and 3 walks surrendered through 3 innings on 60 pitches. The walks are rearing their head again. Mathias is now 2 of 2. What a young season Mark is having. He's a Triple-A stud right now.

Ethan was the recipient of some unfortunate fielding as a ball snuck under Monasterio's glove into left field. As he eyed the runner at 1B, Small managed to lose the baseball and give the runner second with a super rando balk ? - I felt as tho I had suddenly tuned into Biloxi. BUT, not to be frazzled, Ethan managed to strike out the next two hitters. He has 8 punch outs into the fifth inning. Still 4-1 Nashville.

KESTON HIURA, ladies and gentleman. He just hit his 2nd HR of the evening on the Marlins' number 3 prospect. A blast to deep right center. He has 5 rbi's on the evening and it's 6-1. Woot woot!
