I have consulted the oracle and I am sensing a Biloxi victory. Because, well, they can't just lose every game...can they??

Some nice starting pitching taking the mound at all levels - Moore (Carolina), Knarr (Wisco), Castaneda (Biloxi), and ol faithful Linbolm (Nashville).

I, for one, am going to be tuning in to follow the enticing development of Captain K-Knarr in Appleton. He's been electric his past several starts. I'm hoping his 12-6 curve is on point tonight.

@Mass Haas, I think you'll agree we are in for a week of stellar logos once again. Is there anything better than the merch of well-executed Minor League logos? They are legitimately fantastic on a routine basis. One glance at this week's jewels and, I have to say, Birmingham...Nashville I love your old school vintage homage but there is more innovation waiting to be worked out in the graphic design department.

Biloxi’s offense has really struggled lately. Hoping guys like Frelick, Mitchell, Wiemer, Valerio, etc can get it going again.

In fairness: Biloxi's offense has pretty much struggled all season. Outside of mini hot streaks from the likes of Wiemer, Valerio, and Garrett Mitchell, and the unlikely output of catchers Jakson Reetz and Brent Diaz...the offense as a whole has been fairly anemic. Frelick came aboard and got going consistently after his first couple contests but the rest of the order is out of synch. The Bottom of the line-up has routinely been absent. It's, really, just not good right now. One of the surprises and early season disappointments. BUT, as we know, a lot of season left. They can and absolutely should turn it around.

EDIT to ADD:

I want to add to this because it's perdy telling. I touched on this in a recent Minor League report. Hitting with runners on base is a major achilles heel for Biloxi in 2022. I just dug up this stat from today's Game Notes (thanks Garrett ?)

During their series against Pensacola, the Shuckers hit just 5-for-47 (.106) with runners in scoring position.

Simply put: that's not going to cut it. Gotta start knocking 'em in.

The 14-13 Mudcats travel to face Astros' affiliate Fayetteville (9-18) this week, with RHP Ryne Moore (2.57 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 10.3 K/9 in 28 innings) getting the Game One start. Amazing CF Jackson Chourio (12-for-25, 6 extra base hits, 4 strikeouts) bats cleanup today:

Wisconsin's (17-10) on the road this week, taking on Royals' affiliate Quad Cities (11-16). I'll risk embarrassment and say this line-up graphic is likely wrong, as LHP Brandon Knarr (1.27 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, 10.5 K/9 in 28 1/3 innings) is today's expected starter, though I'd certainly understand if Mr. Knarr has been promoted to Biloxi. RF Tristan Peters has reached base in 17 straight games:

Yeah, that's an error on their part. Smith pitched a mere few days ago. He is scheduled for Friday. In other news, these are interesting tidbits:

MAKING MOVES: Ernesto Martinez Jr has been placed on the IL retroactive to May 8. Yeison Coca has been transferred from Wisconsin to Nashville. Ashton McGee has been transferred from Biloxi to Wisconsin. All of these moves take effect today.

AA Biloxi (12-15) looks to turn over a new leaf, returning home to battle White Sox affiliate Birmingham (11-16) for six games this week. RHP Victor Castaneda (2.31 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 23 1/3 innings) makes his 6th start, while the Shuckers' prospect-laden offense tries to come to life (league-low .653 OPS on league-low .283 BABIP):

Before these games kick off, and we get our healthy dose (presumably) of the K-Knarr...let's take a brief glimpse at Wisconsin's Starting pitching performance versus Fort Wayne:

(From the T-Rats Game Notes)

STARTING STRONG: The six starting pitchers for Wisconsin in the Fort Wayne series allowed three runs over 29 innings (ERA = 0.93).

SHAKEN NOT STIRRED: TJ Shook pitched four scoreless innings of relief on Sunday. He pitched twice in the series with Fort Wayne and worked ten scoreless innings with twelve strikeouts.

Also of note, offensively:

Wisconsin now has six walk-off victories in the early going of 2022. Their club record is 11. They have already matched the season walk-off win totals of their 1997, 2006, and 2017 ball clubs. That's just bonkers. ?

Will Carolina go long again? They have now hit HR balls in four consecutive games - their longest HR streak of the season. This is the first game versus Fayetteville in what will be a 24-game season series in 2022. Historically, the two ball clubs have played quite evenly: 23-21 all-time in favor of the Mudcats. However, the Mudcats are 9-13 in Fayetteville's SEGRA stadium.

A Pre-Game Joey Wiemer 'Moment of Zen':

With TWO more OF assists this past Saturday, Joey Bombs (in all facets, apparently) now leads all of Double-A baseball with 5 OF put-outs. I've said it before...and, I'll say it again: Rocket Arm. Let's see if he can add to his total in the Birmingham series.

More on Biloxi, you say? Let me provide the calm for the current losing streak storm:

None of us were thrilled with an 0-6 series in Montgomery - least of all the ball club. BUT, some perspective is in order. After dropping Sunday’s contest to the Montgomery Biscuits, the Biloxi Shuckers now own a 5-25 record against Montgomery at Riverwalk Stadium since 2019. The Montgomery locale has been, shall we say, unkind.

Additionally, even amidst a lengthy losing streak and having fallen several games below 0.500, the Shuckers have still managed to possess the lead in 24 of their 27 contests to date. Lots of season left. Lots of time to right the ship. Too much talent to let this continue much longer, I say.

The AAA Sounds (20-9) are away to face Marlins' affiliate Jacksonville (18-12) this week, with RHP Josh Lindblom (2.33 ERA, 0.96 WHIP, 9.0 K/9 in 27 innings) starting the opening game. Future Star SS Brice Turang has hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games:

Victor Castañeda closes inning 1 1-2-3 with 2 k's to end it. Shuckers follow with a Gabe Holt well-hit line out at the second baseman's ankles, a first-pitch lazy pop-up from Freddy Zamora, and a strikeout on a breaking ball to Garrett Mitchell. On to the 2nd.

David Dahl doubled and scored on an Alex Jackson sacrifice fly. 1-0 Sounds lead early.

Still wondering if the MLB Brewers will try, ya know, two LHH outfielders against a RH starter some day. Until then, Mr. Dahl will just keep mashing in AAA.

Hey a Noah Campbell rbi single in the bottom of the 2nd and the Shuckers lead 1-0. Despite their 7 game yuck streak they have now led 25 of 28 games. Let's grab a victory, Shucks. Victor is dealing.

Psssssst: Josh Lindbolm has tossed 50 pitches heading to his half of the fifth innings. AND, something hasn't happened yet that shant be named and shant be discussed. BUT, know it in your hearts. Somehow, the Sounds have managed only 1 run on 6 hits and 2 Jacksonville errors.
